@tisha01 neuropathy anywhere is when our nerves insulation has worn away. Vitamin B12 regrows insulation. But alcohol stops B12 absorbtion. Also older adults have less stomach acid. So less absorbtion . Eat more animal protein and take METHYLCOBALAMIN. You will then get better.
@blowerk1216 I bet you eat very little animal protein. That's the source of vitamin B12 which makes new nerve insulation. Take METHYLCOBALAMIN anyway. Coba stands for cobalt. B12 is made in soil with aid of cobalt. Grass therefore is dusted with B12. Animals eat grass and we eat them
So meat eaters get plenty of B12.
I developed peripheral neuropathy after I had Bariatric surgery 2012 that was not successful my sleeve twisted and I got very malnourished I had to go on a feeding tube for a year then have a corrective surgery my neuropathy is very painful every day I was not diabetic they don’t know why it happened but I ended up going on social security at age 33 due to neuropathy and epilepsy that I also developed post Bariatric surgery I have been on gabapentin 600mg 3 times a day it helps a little but I’m curious if someone is on a different medication I see my neurologist on the 25th I just wanted to know what others take for pain my pain never goes away feels like stabbing all day never goes away. I have fallen and broke all my toes my right ankle also had a car accident in 2018 where I fractured my c2 vertebra 11 ribs and both my ankles I had a seizure while I was driving and got air lifted to the hospital I try to manage my pain without opioid medication so looking to see if anyone take something other than gabapentin
@blowerk1216 I’m on 600mg 3 times per day of gabapentin I’ve been on lyrica it did nothing for me just looking if you have gotten replies on different medications my neuropathy is from my abdomen through my toes the pain doesn’t go away and I don’t know what to do with my neurologist on the 25 I go to the University of Michigan if they suggest something I’ll let you know I developed mine in 2013 after a botched surgery

1 ReactionSince 2013 when I was 33 I’m now 46 does your pain ever go away mine’s from my abdomen to the tips of my toes little in my hands I have my yearly appointment at university of Michigan on the 25th what helps you cope
@tisha01 I feel your pain I’ve been dealing with it since I was 33 in 2013 when I was diagnosed I’m on 600 mg 3 times a day of gabapentin the stabbing pain is from my abdomen to my toes hard to explain to the doctor I see my neurologist on the 25th at university of Michigan any advice of what you take pain never goes away
@kristien my rheumatologist has me on hydrocodone 10-325mg every 6hrs if needed. I’ve tried all the other medications gabapenton, lyrica, neurontan and others but none helped the pain. Nothing really stops the pain but some rubs help for a little while. You would think this day & time that doctors would have a solution for neuropathy. But they don’t. All we can do is take it one day at a time & PRAY!
@jamessaxo thank you for the information.
