I was Dx with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis years ago and started having tee

Since being Dx with Hashimoto’s my teeth have started loosing in my gums. I’ve had to have 6 implants and thought my troubles were over and now I discovered my left front tooth is loose along with 3 others. I have read that Hashimoto will cause issue with your teeth and my oral surgeon said that Hashimoto can cause issues with your teeth and gums. I don’t have gum disease but I do have very dry mouth problems due to my medications. Sjogrens test was negative. Can anyone please tell me if they have experienced any issues with their teeth and Hashimoto’s my family physician says she has never heard anything about it and therefore won’t help and I just can’t afford anymore implants at this time especially 4.

Did you have a lip biopsy for sjogren or just the lab test? If you only had a lab test you still could have it. It’s called zero negative Sjögren’s syndrome.
I had hashmotoes for years and never had any problems with my teeth. Then I developed hypothyroidism for 10 years. Then it turned into Grave’s disease.

@pennylynn Hi ! No biopsy just bloodwork. I couldn’t believe it was negative because my eyes stay terribly dry also. I was told I had hypothyroidism( in my late 20’s) then Hashimoto’s ( in my 60’s). I’m so confused. My doctor never checked me for Hashimoto’s until I started gaining a lot of unexplained weight. I need a new doctor!!!!

I also suffer from Hashimoto’s, but during my Covid virus, I felt as if my teeth were more loose and they were. I’m going on 4 years without my taste or smell, but my teeth have gone back to normal now. I’m still without my taste or smell.

@lkirnbauer I was very blessed I never had Covid but I did take ONE and only ONE of the shots. But what’s weird is my food taste either like nothing at all or all wrong. For example my favorite summertime thing is watermelon but even though everyone says it’s sweet I taste sour and bitter. My smell is off too. I’m forever smelling something burning or the smell of something hot. I hope this makes sense.

@dragonflylady Oh it makes perfect sense to me! I can only detect if something is sweet, salty or bitter and most foods are as they should be, but I don’t know what I’m eating. I don’t detect any flavors of any kind. I can eat a carrot and a piece of celery and I taste nothing. My sense of smell is pretty much gone as well, but I do catch a whiff or 2 of my coffee grounds in the morning and I can also get 1 or 2 whiffs of a specific candle that I burn in my home. Smell Training Kits, I can hardly smell, but I’m currently doing the training…🤷‍♀️

@lkirnbauer Smell Training Kits?? I guess I’m just totally so far out of touch with current medical things since I had to quit work. Where do you get this kit?? Do they have one for taste??
You mentioned coffee ohmygoodness it has become one of the most stinking aromas for me to the point of vomiting. But when your husband has to have that cup of Joe in the morning you grin and bear it!
Summer is my favorite fruit season and I have desperately missed all my favorite ones due to no taste or rotten or sour taste. Or the ones like Dragon Fruit or Honeydew Mellon that are a little pricey I hate to buy.
Did you have Covid or take one of the shots? Me no Covid and took only one of the Moderna Vaccines made me sick as a dog for 3 days!!
I haven’t thought about my candles but I haven’t been smelling them!! Dang!! But I do get a whiff of my B and B plugins.

@dragonflylady Yes, Smell Training Kits, of which I can hardly smell. I purchased mine on Amazon and they’re like a Vicks stick and I’m testing daily and recording what I’m smelling. I never know what I’m eating, but it has to have texture or I won’t eat it! Sorry you’re suffering and I really pray that one day we will be back to normal. I have to think that or I won’t make it!
