Every evening cold like symptoms for years.

Mystery - As far back as 2018 I've had chills in late afternoon and feel like I have a cold. I wrap up in a blanket and take a couple of tylenol. The next day symptoms are gone till late afternoon. I told my husband it feels like my body is harboring an infection. In 2019 I was dx'd with lung infections and bronchiectasis. I felt this was the cause of my symptoms. I've been under constant treatment for these problems but my other symptoms continued as before. Recently had a UTI that turned into septic shock. Had an ICU stay and IV antibiotics. Still my late afternoon symptoms return. Anyone have a clue? I did not know which support group to put this question in so if anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.

Have you taken your temperature ? Are they low grade fevers ? When I get like that it is usually around 3 pm. Low grade fevers at first like 99.5. A headache too. Lots of drainage down my throat. Then usually after a week the temp goes up 101 to 102. Chest xray usually finds an infection in my lungs. Specifically my right middle lobe where my bronchiectisis is. Then I have to start levavquin.

Forgot to mention my resting heart rate goes up too. Sometimes more difficult to breathe, but not always. Do not ignore these symptoms.

@ssk999 I don't have a fever. I just feel like I should because I get so chilled. I don't usually have a headache or drainage down my throat. My infections are ongoing--bronchiectasis and colonized pseudomonas. My X-rays are clear. I have lots of reactions to oral antibiotics. When I get in trouble I have to get IV antibiotics. Thanks for your response.

have your blood glucose levels checked. Make sure you aren't hypoglycemic. Go take a lab at the time of day when you have the problem or buy a stick meter test device for $20 on amazon and check at home. When my blood glucose was out of control, I'd get cold and also have bladder issues.

@loriesco - Thanks for the response. I do have a blood glucose checker but have not used it during these times--we had it when my mom was with us. I do have hypoglycemia tendencies. It was recommended I eat at regular times, etc. What bladder issues do you experience?

@fdixon63 the same bladder issues that other 69 year old women experience! but it all stopped when I made a few changes. 1) I evidently inherited gout. So I started on the Zazzee Tart Cherry capsules someone recommended here. It helped with the gout and a bit with the irritation/urgency to urinate. But then I switched to medicine (Allopurinol) and it helped a ton more! But now I am trying to go back to the supplement as the medicine makes me drowsy. Then I started on the Metformin for the blood sugar control. That helped a ton more! It seems that although I am INCREDIBLY disciplined with food I just can't control my blood glucose. So now on continuous Metformin. At the same time I went on the continuous Metformin i qualified for the GLP1 "BRIDGE" program. My BMI was 27.02 (qualifying is 27!) and a diagnosis of prediabetes. I lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks and all this really great stuff is happening to my body. (lost an inch off my waist, I can wake up better, I am not RAVENOUS to eat) AND my bladder returned to "normal." I am cutting down on the sugar free drinks in favor of water or thinned out "zero" drinks. I had a diagnosis of IC which seems to be resolving now. I have IBS which is not under control now because of the medicines so I am working on that. My research led me to the combined effect of the Metformin + GLP works on two mechanisms which should help my blood sugar come under control. But it TAKES TIME to be effective. So now I wait.... I tested this past week and my A1C is down! 5.8/5.9 to 5.7 over the past 6 months. and I wake up SO MUCH BETTER. I don't have to run to pee every 10 minutes in the morning and have a squirt. Now its a nice normal stream when I do go. Didn't have to give up my morning cups of coffee either!

@fdixon63 I totally forgot to mention - I had that fever with no temperature. It was maybe upon waking or like yours late afternoon. Sometimes it was bad when it was windy and it touched my skin. FOR YEARS. It was an inflammatory reaction to a virus! The doctors just couldn't figure out the origin. They were good about NOT being dismissive. But they couldn't pinpoint the source. 25 years, this went on. Finally, I was SO depressed my world shut down and I went to give blood to help children. I received a letter from the blood bank: I was shocked! I had Hepatitis C!!!
I suggest going to donate blood! They run tests for viruses so bad blood doesn't get passed. its FREE. (and if it doesn't show anything bad you've done something good at no cost to yourself! You are showing signs of an internal infection that is causing a low grade fever and chills. I bet it is hiding in your joints. There are a million things it could be (well, I exaggerate; 1200 is more like it!). It could be covid leftovers, shingles/measles leftovers, or hepatitis. It could be your other infections running in the background. Yes, I remember this exactly. All gone now for 20 years. The doctors can't diagnose your problem unless they can identify the culprit. Your body is raising your white blood cells to fight the perceived infection. That may be something they can identify and then start down a few rabbit holes. I'll tell you what also helped: VACCINATING!!! I got every vaccine available. I used to have UNBELIEVABLY bad reactions to vaccines and flu shots. NOW - I don't even think about it. The worst was the Zoraster/Shingrex. I am SURE my measles (age 10) was hiding. When they gave me the first of the two-parter, I thought I was going to die. Then they came out with the NEW vaccine Shingrex. I sucked it up and went, leaving plenty of time to recover. Not much there! After that, everything is a breeze. I feel blessed. On occasion, I still get the chills/low grade fever - I have herpes, get some cold sores, and take Lysine and better in a few days. Fatigue recovery takes a couple weeks.

@loriesco - I'm not sure what to say about all your suggestions. I'm 80 years old, 5'7" and BMI of 17. I've been in the hospital four times in less than a year. There has been a lot of testing. I've made the decision to not get any more vaccines. If I have a problem, I don't have anyone to blame except myself. I feel that COVID or COVID vaccine caused my pulmonary embolisms. My current problem is daily arrhythmia, sometimes tachycardia. Probably will have an ablation soon. I do appreciate your detailed response and what has worked for you. Have a blessed day.
