@ellenjks

It has been happening to me for several years now.. have tried many helpful activities... meditation, deep breathing, mindfulness etc.. I go to bed, feeling okay in the evening.. however, each morning I am greeted upon waking with the same feeling of anxiety , panic and a sad feeling,

I feel our pain experiences are pretty common, yes, I awaken and also have terrible spasms in parts of my body because of my dystonia. Spasms that overtake my body, wake up all the time with pain in body. Kristina

Has anyone heard about Neuro Feedback?

Biofeedback is wonderful but is hard to get referred for in a good medical center I have found out. They just do not have enough machines is the way it is explained to me and do not have enough trained medical staff for it. I learned so much from it but could not continue because the system did not allow it. Maybe today it is better or we could find clinical trials? Kristina

Hi @msdazee,

I'm certain that fellow Connect members in this discussion will share their suggestions. In the meantime I thought you might wish to view these articles that attest to the power of routine when dealing with morning anxiety:

Oh, thanks for reporting these two web-sites. Dr. Edward Creagan I have met personally along with his wife and dog. Dr. Creagan is personally a very kind, caring person and I look forward to seeing if his ideas help us? Hopeful for us, Kristina

Since there are so many of us suffering from the same combinations at the same time, think we all need to address this with our providers and get them to
get answers for us, or get the research going on it. It's not only us that are suffering from it, it's us that are writing about what we experience. We are telling the facts and want help. When one really looks at mental health, what progress has been made in the last decade?

OK, they put it on us, but why would anyone want to feel this way? Sometimes, "good" friends who are not good friends say, oh, they just want attention! Attention? Who wants attention to not be able to enjoy themselves and feel this way? Those "good" friends we do not need to see anymore as far as I'm concerned. Kristina

Hello @anniegk

You pose an interesting question, I'm looking forward to seeing how our Members respond. When do the uncomfortable feelings begin to lift for you? Have you noticed any correlations regarding meals, activity level or meds that you take?

Teresa

@anniegk I sometimes feel the same way. I think it is because I am overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done and I feel anxious that I won't complete everything.

My mornings are definitely worse. Feelings lift as the day goes on. It would be awful to know I had to feel this way all day. Coffee and a good breakfast helps. Also I have to take my little dog out for a walk first thing. I believe the combination helps to lift me. 🙂

@liz223 I do the same thing, take time for me by having my coffee and watching a little TV, then really force myself to take my dog out for a short walk even though I don't feel like it most days. Trying to get adequate sleep also helps a lot

@shoregal45 My prescription for my antidepressant was twice a day and I found it caused me to be more anxious and short of breath. I had to cut it back to once a day and start an antianxiety med twice a day. This seems to be a good combination. I have to take the antidepressant in the morning, otherwise I don't sleep either.

Good luck--to whatever you try.. I'm fine in the evening and then the morning anxiety is back as soon as I wake up.. it's like a never ending well...

Years ago I had clinical depression and it was awful in the morning, getting better towards afternoon and evening. I was going through menopause and had some issues that mentally drained me. Most of those problems I thought I had under control in day to day life, but eventually I had panic/anxiety attacks that led to my depression. It was horrible in the morning. I got through it and recovered. That was 20 years ago. In the last 2 years I’ve seen my husband develop Alzheimer’s. He’s been my love since I was 13. It’s terribly depressing and I try to stay calm and in the moment. I’m a Christian so I have my faith. That’s immense. But I’ve noticed some anxiety creeping up and have come close to the panic attacks returning. I can’t go there again, so I’m trying to use some of the techniques that helped me years ago. Sometimes talking with close friends, praying and meditating help. If it gets really bad, I will take a Xanax. I might have to do that once a week. Also, I think hormones fluctuate during the morning to evening, you might look into that. Stay healthy ❤️Christy

Iam so sorry to hear about your husband. I went through alzeheimers with my Mom. It is heartbreaking. The disease is relentless and you are so helpless against it. Please take care of yourself as you go through this with your husband. It is a hard road to travel. Reach out to people don't try to do this on your own. Gentle (( Hugs))
