A Moment of Peace

Posted by edsutton @edsutton, May 21 7:08am

Sitting at my little desk by the window.
I hear the cardinal singing, full, round notes...red notes!
In the window my grandmother's ivy plant is hanging,
repotted by my wife last week.
Today it has four new leaves, looking very happy.
We go back 70 years, this little plant and me,
my grandmother's voice nurturing us,
and glad for my wife's gentle pruning.

This is my moment.

Every day, after the other squirrels have gone up for their morning siesta, our little wild visitor Lucky comes to the feeder. We named him Lucky because he is missing his right front foot and most of his tail. I hate thinking of how he must have suffered from those injuries. However he is a sublime reminder of the beauty of resilience. He climbs and jumps like a champ seemingly undeterred by his losses. I thank him everyday for his great teaching.

@gravity3 I wish I could meet Lucky. I also have seen squirrels missing part of their tails in my yard. I live across the street from a park.I see several different animals even a dear in my drive. Lucky would make some good friends here. I'm at peace early in the morning enjoying the quite.

The quiet peace of early morning. Nothing like it.

The smell of coffee as it fills my cup and that first sip in the cool air of the morning.

Good Morning All:
My peaceful mornings are so important to my mental health. I say my morning prayers, read uplifting emails, watch my precious hummingbirds as I sit on my patio with a big cup of coffee. I cannot wait for steady warm weather to return! I live in Ohio and spring is struggling to get here this year!
Peace to All.
