Has Anyone Tried the New drug Ibsrela for IBS-C ?

Posted by phxbarb @phxbarb, Dec 19, 2025

I saw that it was approved for adults with IBS - Constipation. I am always looking for new and improved drugs for this condition that I have had all my life. Painful hard rock -like stool with cramps and long-term occurence. So tired of it. Today the usual cocktail of laxatives did not work for me. So miserable and hoping for relief.

I am using Bluebonnet sun fiber, which I believe is guar gum fiber. After years of nothing working, this is the first helpful thing I found. I could not tolerate meds or MiraLAX.

How much Sun Fiber do you take and how often? I tried the recommended dosage once and it caused diarrhea.

I have IBSC and have tried everything under the sun. I also have a torturous: and have had mesenteric artery ligament syndrome, which greatly disturbs the digestive system and the nerves. My doctor at Mayo prescribed. The medication called Motegrity. It’s pretty expensive so my husband and I go to Mexico and it cost about $45 a month which is better than $480 at first. I took two MG’s and that was too strong so I cut it in half after two years of being on it, I’m down to less than half a pill of one MG. It’s the only thing that has worked for me. I’m 70 years old. If I get backed up, I just doubled the amount. I’ve been taking. hope this helps.

@vcfoley11 I take a scoop using the one that comes in the package daily. I have not had loose stools with it but our bodies are all so different.

Hello - has anyone been prescribed Ibsrela? My gastroenterologist has prescribed it, but I haven’t started it.
Thanks!

I did ..and Linzess and Amtiza.. and they didn't work for me (Linzess actually made me sick) then I got on Trulance and it's working without alot of additional support.. MiraLAX sometimes and prune juice.. so if it doesn't work for you..(give it some time and prayer0 then just now there are other options!! Praying ..problem solved!!

@zephyr2309 I started IBSRELA approximately a year ago.. it was not easy.. fluid overload in intestines.. reduced dose to once a day.. felt sick after taking in with dinner.. did not work for me.. Linzess worked for awhile before IBSRELA.

I’m reluctant to start another medication. My gastro suggested MiraLax but every day is too much. Maybe I’ll focus on “microdosing” that instead.

Thanks for responding. Be well.

I’ve been plant-based for over 10 years. Lots of lentils, beans, leafy greens and fresh fruit every day.
The issue is I’m on two meds that have constipation and nausea as side effects. Ugh! I am reluctant to start yet another new medication. Maybe I just need to adjust MiraLax. Thanks for responding.

Hi @phxbarb, I am hopeful Ibsrela will help your IBS-C. You have to be encouraged to find a new possibility for relief.

I am tagging some that have commented about Ibsrela to find out more about their experiences: @jp9 , @mrsflutterby , @mothermary1 , @standinginfaith , @bunnycuddlez , and @peppatty12

What does your usual cocktail of laxatives consist of?

The constipation is tied to two medications - as side effects. Nausea, too. I’ve used MiraLax per my gastro, but I don’t like how it makes me feel. I’m plant based and eat lentils, beans, leafy greens and fresh fruit every day. When I go without any MiraLax, it’s pretty bad. They had to give me Reglan in the ER. I’m seeing a new gastro for, perhaps, a new perspective. Thank you.
