Has Anyone Tried the New drug Ibsrela for IBS-C ?
I saw that it was approved for adults with IBS - Constipation. I am always looking for new and improved drugs for this condition that I have had all my life. Painful hard rock -like stool with cramps and long-term occurence. So tired of it. Today the usual cocktail of laxatives did not work for me. So miserable and hoping for relief.

@phxbarb I have been on Ibsrela for 8 days, and it just started "working" yesterday. I'm curious to see how I'll do on it. I've read to take it 1 to 1-1/2 hours before eating. My doctor told me 20 minutes before...that didn't work. I think you need to play around with the timing, maybe. I've had constipation issues since I was three months old...I'm 65 now. It's a nightmare!!!

4 ReactionsMy gastroenterologist mentioned this to me yesterday; I'm always hesitant to start yet another medication. So far I've kinda - sorta managed constipation with a MiraLax regimen, but wonder if this would be better. And of course, always concerned about side effects and interactions with other medications.
Thank you

1 Reaction@mrskra Did you get the timing for taking Ibsrela worked out for you? I have been on it for almost 2 weeks and it is not working yet for me. I was told to take it just before eating so I have been taking it about 5 - 10 minutes before eating but no luck.

1 ReactionHi @mariannedomino - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Sounds like it's been challenging trying to get the constipation part of your IBS under control.
I've moved your post here so that you could talk with others who have taken tenapanor (Isbrela) and other medications for IBS-C and hopefully get some helpful suggestions:
- Has Anyone Tried the New drug Ibsrela for IBS-C ? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/has-anyone-tried-the-new-drug-ibsrela-for-ibs-c/
I'm hopeful members here such as @phxbarb @zephyr2309 @kjcaron and others will have some ideas for you.
If these medications have not been working well for you, how are you feeling?

1 Reaction@mariannedomino Hi...I took Linzess for 3 yrs...never a big help but I kept taking it. I stopped a couple of months ago. With Miralax and/ or Metamucil it has to be taken consistently for at least 2 wks before it really starts working. I find Metamucil very bloating and not convenient to use. I've been taking one cap of Miralax and one scoop of Sunfiber...I mix them both in a mug of coffee with a tasty creamer...very good and it works for me. Maybe give those a try and save your $$$ on expensive prescriptions. Hope this info will help you.

3 ReactionsI tried the Isbrella..Linzess Amtiza. Isbrealla NO results Amtizia..NO results..Linzess..made me sicker..but what works for one may not work for another..so..).now I take Trulance..and Miralax if necessary..but I recently found out I also have CSU.. Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria..which makes me extremely sensitive to ..anything ..who knows?? Waiting to get approval for Xolair shots.. so being sooo sensitive..I found (by checking Drugs.com..I think ..Trulance only has 3 ingredients in it..Linzess has maybe 4..I'm not a professional.. just try to minimize what I intake..because you never know what will do something unpleasant!!) Alos I read a lady's comment on here and she said 2 Russell Stover chocolates a night helped he.. so I researched chocolate.. and found this result ..Lindt 70% Cocoa DARK choc 2 squares early in the evening makes me go real good..and tastes great!! It's the little thing in life that mean alot when your battling these "gut demons"..I sure do hope this helps someone .Prayers for everyone on here!!

4 ReactionsI am using Bluebonnet sun fiber, which I believe is guar gum fiber. After years of nothing working, this is the first helpful thing I found. I could not tolerate meds or MiraLAX.
