Radiation and Invasive Lobular Cancer
I am reading a lot about Endocrine Therapy and Chemo options with ILC, but not much on Radiation. Does anyone have experience on effectiveness of this? Most of the research appears to be on ductal.

I forgot, the pill I took was xeloda a cancer pill as that's all they have right now to give people with TNBC. Taking that was worse than any of the other treatments so glad that journey is done.
Back in the Middle Ages (2002) I was diagnosed with DCIS at age 55. Lumpectomy, 2nd lumpectomy b/c margins weren’t clear. I sailed through 30 fractions of radiation thanks to a friend who was a nun. She advised insisting on using gel from the very 1st day and the latest appointment of the day, followed by a quick ‘power nap’.
In 2024 I was diagnosed with ILC, told I needed a mastectomy and RECONSTRUCTION at age 78!!! Seriously?Now at age 80 with a new surgeon and med onc, I’m scheduled for a mastectomy in 4 days. No new boob, no AIs for me.

@valleymom I may have said this before, but I used three creams for my three weeks of radiation and my breast is soft ...really, no problems. Fruit of teh Earth gel, Miaderm1 and Aquafour. You can get all three on Amazon. I took a baggie of teh gel with me each day and when I got back in the dressing room after treatment, I slathered the breast with it. Then at home, I rotated the three creams every hour or so. Use these for at least two weeks after end of treatment too. I had some itching at very end and doc prescribed a steroid cream. Took care of it pronto. The breathing was tricky for me at first. (This was entire right breast and I had to breathe and watch the bar go up on a screen,) I went online and found a video to help me and then it was easy. I'm on a blocker, anastrozole, and so far I've been lucky (18 months on it). No problems. Fingers crossed. But you can always change if you run into a problem. I was stage 1 b. lobular. And I read everything I can about it! I hope some of this will help. Welcome the treatment, and I know that's hard. That's the only way. Women in the 1950s had such a tough time with very few options.

@valleymom please, please consider the use of Mepitel Film instead of the suggested topical daily ointments. There is a Facebook group which will give you all the deets! I used it during my proton treatments for pbi and had no burning whatsoever. It is a fantastic product but don’t confuse it with the Mepitel product available on Amazon, it is different.
