0.15 micron shower filter for NTM

Posted by cholash @cholash, 2 days ago

Can someone please clarify for me… If I attach a 0.15 micron filter above my current shower head, will it filter out NTM, and all the other nasties ? Or, do I ALSO have to change my current shower head to one that also filters NTM? I have extremely thick hair , so fast washings are impossible for removing shampoo & conditioner . My current shower head has great pressure , so I’m hoping adding the 0.15 filter above it will solve my NTM /water concern . I’m attaching the one I’m considering .

How about increasing water heater temp to over 135 degrees. The high heat kills NTM. That's my solution. That and keeping overhead fan on and door slightly ajar in bathroom. Plus, I avoid taking showers everyday. That alone decreases risk of shower water contamination.

@scoop I’m just afraid of someone getting burnt at that high of a temp, especially grandkids.
How have you managed to keep people from being scalded ?

@cholash
Everyone who visits is warned and frequent fliers know! The mixing valve is very efficient at getting the temp just right.

My experience with thick hair and not showering everyday was terrible.
I was buying all kinds of hair products to control the curls and waves.
I found rosemary oil and started using after hair partially dry.
Directions say to massage in scalp, but I just use to control hair.
Sometimes I put a shower cap on and just a fast shower.
When you live in Senior apartments there is no control over temperature of water heater.

The link below is the hand held version of the product you are asking about. I have used this for 2 years.
It is thought to filter out the NTM. However recently there has been some information about the performance with high sustained water temperatures. You can see the temperature range in the products specification.
The company will be doing a presentation with Q&A on our support group meeting on August 3 at 6 PM. If interested let me know.
