just got diagnosed with a high calcium score of 1350 . i am 58 years old and live well. no smoking , drinking or diabetic and exercise between 30 to 40 minutes a day. i feel strong and well but i got this high score. spoke to my heart doctor and he just bumped up my crestor to lower my colestrol which is good but my doctor says he wants to drop it even further . anybody else have had a similar experience. thanks

thanks for the posts ,,, i see a cardiologist this week after my 1359 score ,,, i know i have some clogged arteries but i think (with some research) that i have some blockage everywhere ,,, i don't think i want open heart surgery if i am at a high risk of a stroke and would be a burden to my family ,,, any thoughts on this ,,, i am in kansas city and the world cup has been a blast ,,, people actually enjoying being together ,,, sorry for all the commas

@kcsam another poster is correct. Stents could solve your problems in one day but you’d be foolish to just let it go. Don’t diagnose yourself. Get treatment from a qualified cardiologist.

I have a calcium score of 1359 which really surprised my doctor because everything else in my blood work is in the green. He has me on one Rosuvastatin per day. I have never posted anything healthwise before and it is nice to read from other people in my condition.

Just follow your doctors instructions and don’t eat junk and try to get some exercise and try to keep yourself at a low risk as possible and you will be ok. Good luck

That is high and could be signs of calcium build up in your arteries. If you don't have any symptoms, you may need to start taking statins. Definitely start taking something even if you already exercise etc. It could be familial. My sister-in-law had CAC in the 400s and had one artery 90% blocked. She is older and was having symptoms. My husband and I have had CAC and it is near 0 but doesn't mean soft plaque isn't building. Keep an eye on that and maybe statins. Advanced lipid test showed my LPa and ApoB very high, so I am now on injectable Repatha which has been good except for side effects. I am allergic to statins. Causes severe muscle pain and spasms.

I've never been in a chat group before ,,, your kind words have been helpful ,,, best of luck with you high calcium people ,,, looks like i'm going to get some tests and hope i am a stent candidate,,, i don't plan on joining Lindsey Graham for awhile ,,, sincerely mr. 1359

Please make sure they tested you for LPa (lipo protein a). Most simple explanation is that if you are LPa, it is genetic but regardless of how healthy you are, or how healthy you eat and exercise, your body at some point, usually with aging, changes and becomes a cholesterol making machine. You must watch your cholesterol levels and your LDL should remain under 70 if not preferable under 50. There is so much more to learn as we age.
My heart score was 0 at 50, 0 again at 60 but because of other anemia issues they have searched and one test came back with my LPa at 1486. I was started on Rosuvastatin immediately and am awaiting results.

Please research "statin paradox." Your calcium score may increase with statin use. Please see a good cardiologist and see what your options may be such as a prescription for Repatha or inclusion in one of three Lp(a) lowering trials that are be conducted now for Olpasiran (Amgen), Pelacarsen (Ionis/Novartis), and muvalaplin (Eli Lilly).
