Is your asthma triggered by wood smoke?
I don’t know if it qualifies as an allergen, but I get severe headaches and my asthma is triggered if I am near not only a fire, but a fireplace or wood stove that isn’t being used or hasn’t been in a while. At first I thought it was maybe a fungus on the wood that was being released, but how could it be everywhere? Is it just the smoke? Who else has this reaction?

Yes.
I have environmental Asthma. Not Eosinophil or Allergic.
Have 5 perfumes I can wear that won't give me a Asthma attack.
I burn incense and have only a few smells that won't give me an attack(sage, ceder, nag champa, sandalwood, frankincense and myrrh).
Hand creams that don't smell.
Neutral shampoos.
I can't stand scented candles.
Laundry soap has to be neutral.
I have walked into stores and walked out because of "smells".
And outside? Smoke, weather changes, bug sprays, HUMIDITY.....ETC.
Its rough having Asthma my whole life.

1 Reaction@ecmoandrrt - I hear ya. I finally just decided that I would stop wearing perfume altogether, cause too many bothered me. I'm sure there are some that don't, but I was going into a more radical "de-smell" effort in my life.
No matter how you do the de-scenting of your environment, it seems like it takes time. Hard for me to just throw away every scented spot remover, soap, etc.
I also like unscented laundry soap and shampoo and conditioner. I still have some room sprays in the bathroom I will need to replace as well as bathroom hand soaps. A realtor in our family has always encouraged pretty hand soaps with nice smells. So, I'll have to find something pretty and unscented, or go with some ceramic or other material nice hand soap container and fill it with unscented soap.
Have you found any nice hand soaps or bug sprays that are effective at their jobs and also unscented?
