I HAD a 3 cm Cavitary mass from a newly diagnosed NTM infection .
I presented with no symptoms at all and it just showed up as an incidental finding on chest x-ray.I was treated with 5 antibiotics ( one I.V through a PIC line ..that I was only able to tolerate a week .I had contacted a fantastic thoracic surgeon here at NYU ( Dr Robert Cerfolio)who robotically removed my mass !
My 3 month post surgery C.T was negative and I remain asymptomatic!

@visions63 Wow, your pulmonologist decided to do surgery for you?

No,I decided that I couldn’t have a quality of life on antibiotics that were getting me so sick that I couldn’t leave my house ,so I contacted a lung surgeon and asked if my cavitary mass was operable …Against my pulmonologist’s advise ,I had a robotic lung resection with a surgeon who was part of the NTM team .
I now have no more mass and no symptoms.!!
