Venlafaxine for vestibular migraines

Posted by jackieann59 @jackieann59, 19 hours ago

Has anyone tried venlafaxine to help decrease the frequency and severity of vestibular migraines? I also have some intermittent anxiety and thought it might kill 2 birds with one stone.
I have only taken my first dose of 37.5 mg and I feel terrible, I'm having vertigo, nausea, diarrhea, and anxiety.
I have xanax to help with initial side effects but hate the thought of taking the med again tomorrow. I'm hoping the first dose was the worst.
I'd love to hear some positive outcomes.

I am taking Venlafaxine since over 30 years, yes starting with this medication or trying to quit does a few side effects I experienced like Dizziness and vertigo also but only for a few days. It’s important to stay close in communication with your doctor if side effects don’t disappear.
For me it is a life saver, handling my depression.
I have no side effects otherwise.
Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion with your symptoms to be sure this Medication is the right one in your case.
Good luck and keep us updated.

Thanks for your response. I am very sensitive to meds and started on the lowest dose. I will definitely contact my doctor if it gets worse or lasts too long.
Glad to hear it is helping you.

Sometimes doctors prescribe a medication because of its side effects.
So it can be possible that it helped some people with head pain.
Trying it will find out but slowly, very slowly begin with and you will be fine…
I am just wondering that you didn’t get one of the newest migraine medication, hydrocodone isn’t a medication for taking longer….

My head pain is from a car wreck. My neck and spine are all screwed up. Occipital nerve is so painful glasses and hearing aids hurt if I wear them to long. Pain doctor doesn’t believe my pain is real. He was arrogant and rude! However if a med for migraines might help , I would sure try it. Sometimes I do have big circles of white light like a migraine at times with vomiting.
