Buspirone: Anyone on this? How's it gone?

Posted by beesmom @beesmom, Jan 26, 2023

Yesterday I was prescribed Buspirone to take in addition to my daily dose of 100mg of Zoloft. Is anyone else on these same meds, and have you had success or negative reactions? Thanks!!!

@lizjlb I have been on Buspirone for quite some time and it has been very effective for my anxiety. Nevertheless, it wears off too quickly. Can anyone relate?

Hi, @dhkerby - you might speak to your prescribing doctor about this. I found my allergy medication (which is different than a mental health medication, admittedly), which was supposed to be a 24-hour pill, wore off around 5 p.m. daily, after a first dose at 8 in the morning.

Turns out my allergist determined I metabolize it differently than others, and he had me start taking the 24-hour allergy pill twice daily.

Do you think it is possible you may metabolize this medication differently? Has your doctor offered an opinion?

@lisalucier Thank you for the suggestion and no, I have not brought this concern to my doctor.

@dhkerby - not a problem. I didn't understand the dropoff of a 24-hour medication at the time. However, when I spoke to my doctor, what he said and his solution made total sense.

Hoping your doctor has a solution to the wearing off too fast.
