Heat Intolerance and CF

I'm not sure if anyone else has encountered issues with the heat this summer. The extreme heat covering a large part of the US poses significant problems for those of us with CF. Prolonged exposure to heat in those of us with CF can lead to chloride-deficient metabolic alkalosis as a result of a loss of electrolytes through sweat, according to a case report published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

In my own case, the outside heat and my own anemia have really drained me when I've ventured outside for a walk. Have any of you found a way to venture outside without a problem?

It’s been brutal! I get up early so I can walk the dog and then I wait until the evening to walk him again. I have to take a nap in the afternoon because I’m getting up early. I have been walking 3- 5 miles a day to try and regain some lung function, but I can’t do it in this heat and I’m afraid that I’m going to lose more lung function. At least I finally know that contrary to what some people might think, I’m not lazy. Being in the sun makes me panicky because my body is saying NO!
Thanks for adding the post so I know I’m not the only one.
