Anyone else gone gluten and dairy free to help improve symptoms
Hi,
It has been suggested to me and i have talked to people who havegone gluten and dairy free that has helped their symptoms. justlooking for anyone here who has and interested if it has made a difference? if it has could you share some menu's or give me some ideas? and how long did it take for you to see improvement? i have some general ideas on what to buy but looking for more before i head out. its been suggested to me because i have hypothyroidism which until recently has been out of whack, hyperplasia with possibilityof autoimmune gastritis, possible sjorgens syndrome and maybe lichen sclorus. im waiting on specialists to confirm but i have to wait for appointments which is so hard. its kind of like starting fresh. in 15 months of being sick i have gotten little help so im traveling 3 hours to boston where i can get better help its just hard waiting for these appointments.i am seeing a naturpath dr in a few weeks never been to one so not sure what to expect but i think he is better than who previously i have seen. sorry to ramble just hoping someone here relates tome and can help me out. thank you!

@artemis1886 No, Synthroid is the treatment for my Hypothyroidism, but I do also have Hashimoto’s and control that with diet alone. My doctor told me that there isn’t a medication for Hashimoto’s alone. If you actually read the link you sent me, you’d see that Hashimoto’s is not treated with medication. Read it and I wish you all the best.
I have experienced a big improvement in my health since going gluten free, sugar free & mostly dairy free. I love my coffee with a splash of real cream! Thats my one vice left.
I have 3 autoimmune diseases & diabetes. This last April I was very sick in an autoimmune firestorm. 2 weeks in Mayo Clinic where they found my latest, Giant Cell Arteritis/PMR and most serious. I also had cdiff again.
I’m 67 & have had Lupus, diabetes & Hashimotos for 30 years & have never been this sick with my flares.
When getting home I committed to an anti- inflammatory diet. I never want to be that sick again & will do what I can to help my body heal. Some things I can’t control but at least this will help.
My GI issues that have been so bad for almost a year have improved greatly. My inflammatory markers were so high a few months ago. CRP of 266! Sed rate of 78, are now normal. Of course the prednisone did a lot of that but as I continue to taper down I’m still doing well eating the way I am. And I like the healthy foods I make, knowing I m giving my body the nutrients it needs.
Quick observation; I was tested a few times for celiac & don’t have it but every time I tried eating wheat or rye, even healthy whole grains, my blood sugar would spike. The same amount of carbs in other foods did not do that. So I stay away from any of those. Popcorn does that to me as well.
