Hope I’m in the right group! I was recently diagnosed with this condition. I’m interested in hearing from others about how this diagnosis impacts one’s life. What is your experience of its progression?

@diane987654321 When I was diagnosed in December 2025 with HFrEF (20-25), I was told it is important for me to exercise but even if I just make a bed by myself, I get out of breath and my heart rate increases. Walking too fast from a parking lot to the grocery store entrance gets me dizzy sometimes. I used to walk 2.5 miles 5 days a week with my neighbor but can't anymore. Very depressing. I am hoping to start cardio rehab in a couple of weeks to see if I can exercise under medical supervision and then start on my own at home with a treadmill. I have an appointment with EP at Mayo Phoenix on September 2nd to discuss ICD/Pacemaker implant because of my HFrEF and LBBB. So helpful to have others to communicate with who understand what we are going through!

@ejbb I empathize with you about feeling negatively about how even the smallest exertion affects you. I miss my walks with my dogs, being able to clean my whole house quickly, gardening for hours. I get upset when I dwell on all that, so I try to focus on what I can do. It is hard and I am tired of my body falling apart.

I was diagnosed at Mayo Clinic, a couple of years ago, with HFwpef. They're thinking it was due to chemotherapy 16 years ago. Now they're regularly testing anyone on my particular chemo drug regimen with this specific exercise test to uncover HFwpEF long term heart damage. But they didn't know that 15 years ago, so I was undiagnosed for a long time. My cardiologist put me on jardiance, metapropol, baby aspirin, and spironolactone. I went to cardiac rehab for six months, and graduated to seeing a Mayo physical therapist to manage exercise challenges.
Especially in this heat, and also having asthma, I am really discouraged.

@lindakbe I could not handle Jardiance with Entresto and Metoprolol and Spironolactone. You are fortunate you can if they are all helpful to you. It is definitely difficult to navigate all the drugs they want you to take. Not to mention trying to exercise when you HFrEF. Did cardiac rehab help you? I am starting in a couple of weeks. Thank you in advance.
