Reading - Kindle / Paperbacks?

Posted by 2me @2me, 1 day ago

I apologize if this has been asked. My husband is going for his first Lequembi infusion this week. He wanted a book to read to pass the time (the first infusion is the longest, I’m told…due to slow infusion speed, and monitoring afterward) - approximately 5 hours.

He has not used his Kindle in awhile, so struggles with that, and used to also read on the iPad/Kindle app. Now he can’t seem to find how to order books for either. I’m suggesting he go back to paperbacks.

Anyone have similar experiences?

I know that anything my husband doesn't do for a while, he forgets how to do. Are you able to order his books for him? Are paperbacks a problem? My husband does prefer the print size in full-sized library books.

That is a good point, abut the library books! Yes, I did order 2 for his Kindle, but I also need to refresh my memory, as I’ve not used my Kindle in awhile, either! 😊 My purpose in thinking Kindle or physical book is that he wouldn’t be distracted by incoming messages or the junk mail (& texts) he seems to get several of. Thank you, and we will get a couple paperbacks ordered.

If type size is a problem, I've found that our local library carries some of the more recently released books in Large Print. Also, my husband used to be an avid reader but now finds fiction, especially mysteries, hard to follow due to plot twists and multiple characters. He now prefers nonfiction and biographies.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. Type size isn’t a huge consideration, tho I have seen some paperbacks with really small print! Thank you also, for the tip about fiction/vs non-fiction…that does make good sense! I know when I’ve put down a book for awhile, I sometimes have to flip back to remind myself of characters etc…only makes sense that it would be even more difficult with memory challenges!

I'm not sure you can order Kindle books from the device or the Kindle app, but may have to go to Amazon website to order (they are then instantly downloaded to all Kindle devices/apps. If necessary, you can adjust the reading font on any kindle device/app.
