Slow way to die, yet slipping away fast: So hard
I am looking at my husband as he sleeps in his lift chair. He fell last October and broke his hip. Until then he was mobile
Since then he has lost over 40 pounds. He is slipping away so fast. We have been married for 46 years. I am his caregiver, but his brain doesn't tell him that. I dislike the fact that he hates me at times. My point is, take it easy. Just think what his body is doing to him. It will be over too soon for me. Love, Annie

The man you love doesn't hate you. That person no longer inhabits this body. And that body is deteriorating as eveidenced by large weight loss and loss of mobility. Perhaps it would be helpful to ask what you would want if your positions were exchanged. I know what I would want.

His dad had it and his Mother had Parkinson's.
He has always said he was going to get Parkinhemier's. Love to you all. We live in Oro Valley, AZ.

13 ReactionsMy wife, who passed in January of this year, after six years of slowly fading with dementia, would, now and then, say to me three times, very quickly - "I hate you, etc, etc." , I would always reply "I love you, etc. etc." just as quickly. = Wish I could hear those words from her mouth now. And...that I still had all of the responsibilities of caring for her that I had for those six years.
Be strong, do the best you can, show him all of the love you have - as hard as it is right now - take care of yourself, so that you are able to continue taking care of him.

7 Reactions@ams That is where I live too! Are you aware of any nearby in-person support groups? Apparently there was one at Oro Valley Public Library before covid but not any more.
