Constant "Sputum" Possible Fungul Infection Thrush

Posted by blm1007blm1007 @blm1007blm1007, Feb 8, 2024

"I have what I believe is called catarrh, the build-up of mucus that is constantly in my throat and especially worse after I eat and almost too thick, and lots more of it, after each sip of a protein powder drink. I have tried all types of protein powder to see what might not cause it. All cause the same thing.
I am going to try different amounts of the protein powder to place in the shake to see if that will help and maybe more liquid. Any thoughts?
Does anyone else have this problem after eating...... and more so when sipping a protein powder shake?"

@blm1007blm1007 . I am so guessing that you were referring to the hiatal hernia surgeries and yes I have had 2. MY Gastro doc agrees with me the the coughing as hard as I was, was the cause. THe recovery from the surgeries is not fun, you eat more than a few bites and you throw up, you drink anything cold you throw up so you have to be very aware of what you eat or drink and how much of it at a time. It 6 to 8 weeks before you can eat or drink without getting sick, occasionally the throwing up still happens, especially after eating bread!
IF you have a hiatal hernia do not wait until it is quite large before you have it fixed, mine were both small but I convinced my Gastro doc to repair them while small cuz it hurt so bad! After running a few tests to determine the size, I was scheduled for surgery. I would say I made it about 14 months before the second one appeared but I knew what it was immediately and we followed the same testing procedures before surgery. THe second surgery recovery was very much the same as the first with the throwing up.
Glad that is all behind me!!!

@lunglady Oh.. "cuz hurt so bad." The hiatal hernia I have does not hurt and I would not know I had it if I hadn't had a swallow test.
Thank you for telling me your experiences before and after surgery. That is not much fun and was not fun for you.
Just remarkable the things the body goes through such a that type of surgery and yet have other health problems such as BE, Bronchiectasis.
