Anyone successfully stopped using Trazadone for insomnia

Posted by mpjabbey @mpjabbey, 3 days ago

I have been on Trazadone for 8 years. So tired of dealing with the side effects of headaches everyday. Has anyone successfully stopped using Trazadone for sleep disorder. I am down to half of 25 mg. Still able to fall asleep but wake up 3-4 times during the night

I was on Trazadone for about 3 months and quit because of side effects. I didn’t taper off just stopped and had no problems. That may have been because of short duration use. Now I use an external Vegus nerve stimulator and it works better than the trazadone ever did.

I’m glad to hear you have no side effects and the medication is working well for you.

@mpjabbey Yes, I was on it for quite some time together with Clonazepam every night. It got to a point I felt the Trazadone was making my anxiety worse. I titrated off of it about 2 years ago. It may have been easier for me than for some because I had the additional Clonazepam component which I am still taking. Your doctor ought to be able to help you get off of it, or a naturalpath. đź’•

I took Trazadone for a couple of years and weaned myself off of it because I wanted to break the habit (as I couldn’t sleep without). I didn’t expect it would be easy but after a couple of weeks or so I woke up one morning realizing I had fallen asleep within a reasonable period of time and slept through the night. . To this day I don’t take any prescription drugs to promote sleep. If you’re determined to do it - you will do it with success. Ask your doctor to help you!
