Anyone had skin irritation around the stoma that won't heal?

Has/had anyone had severe skin irritation around the stoma that you just can’t get to heal? I’m using the powder as advised but it doesn’t seem to be helping all that much. It’s quite painful at times.
Any suggestions?

I also use pre cut ostomy bag and it is much easier plus its always the same size. When I tried cutting my own they were never even. I also use a coloplast one piece closed end bag. Ifeel this is part of the reason I dont have a skin problem 3 to 4 times a day I change the entire bag clean the area and put a new bag on, I feel much cleaner this way and it is easy to do when you have bad arthritis in your hand

@pez01
Unfortunately my stoma is too large at the present time to use the precut, we have to cut them.
I have tried several different bags so far but not the one you use.
What do you do with the used bags if you are visiting or out and about?

I buy the black non see thru zip lock bags on Amazon so there is no odor or can u see bags and just put it in waste. If its family or friends I tell them so they can dispose of trash Usually I have been lucky and have not need to change a bag at a house or public venue At home I have a large wastepaper container with plastic liner and it sits outside my patio door I throw them there till I empty trash

@pez01 Without sounding incredibly nosy, can I ask you whether your insurance pays/helps to pay for this use of bags? Or are you independently wealthy? I do sound nosy...but there it is.

I have private insurance which pays for ostomy bags and supplies but I do have a copay. They do not cover the ostomy bags which are 19 dollars for 60 bags on Amazon I am not wealthy but comfortable I live on my retirement like every one else. I choose what is important to me like the disposal bags and skip on something else. This ostomy is part of my life now and I want to be as comfortable as possible I have tried many things and cut out many I no longer use rings under my pouch i found they did nothing for me I do not use skin barriers or removers since coloplast has that built in to barriers I only use skin tac and barrier strips when I go out and not at home I do take tub baths and soak my stoma The skin tac washes right off with water I keep my routine as simple as possible but that is what I choose to do Everyone has to do what is comfortable for them

@pez01 I do apologize for asking you, but when you learn what ostomy one piece appliances cost in Canada...which is where I live...you'll know where I coming from. I buy my own supplies from Payless Medical, which has the best prices I can find. From Payless Medical one piece Hollister appliances cost about $80.00 for 5 pieces. That is (if my math is correct...not my strong point) 12 times more in Canada. 12 times $19 is a considerable amount.

@piki Wow those are some really inflated prices. Im so sorry to hear that when we have no choice and have to use ostomy bags, I never realized Canada had such high prices. My prayers are with you
