Is a broncosopy painful? I had breat cancer 4 years ago. Now I need a biopsy on a nodule in my right lung. I am scared.

@annben Thank you for the information. I plan to call my pulmonologist and see if I am getting anesthesia or not.

@dawnie7 I have never heard of a lung biopsy without being put under. It is a necessity because it is invasive. I think you should tell your doctor about your fears. They gave be a slight sedative before taking me into the O.R. That would relax you before they use the anesthesia and begin the actual biopsy. Maybe your fears lay in what they may find? That would be totally understandable. Blessings on you. 💕

I was completely out for my bronchoscopy. I might have been a bit hoarse afterwards but that's all. Please don't be afraid.

Nope. I have had at least a dozen. No pain except a little sore throat afterward.

It’s not too bad. Your lung and throat will be a little sore but that’s about it. Eat ice cream after!!!

A Cannuk here. I had a lung biopsy into my right lower lobe for a large tumour. I was awake and had a bit of a problem during it in terms of pain. I was told everything would be frozen as they went along but that was not helping me. I was feeling too much pain, but told not to talk or move in case I got air into my lung. Afterwards, I was spitting up very large blood pieces. (several times I had to do that). If I have to have another one, I am going to ask for some sedation.

I just had a bronchoscopy and had sharp pains in my shoulder and heart area for several days and still have a sore throat a week later.

Hi Donna,
I’m so sorry you went through this !
I hope you never do have to have another biopsy, but glad you’d ask for sedation. Hug 🤗

@pgf
Hi,
I’m sorry you had sharp pains, after my bronchoscopy luckily I only had a sore throat for about a week.
Hope you feel better soon. 🤗
