Is a broncosopy painful? I had breat cancer 4 years ago. Now I need a biopsy on a nodule in my right lung. I am scared.

No, they probably will put you out for the bronchoscopy. It’s not painful.

Hello, my son who had cancer had this procedure. He was sedated. It wasn't painful. But you could have soreness in your throat and minimal bleeding. Not everyone will have the same outcome. My son had a very small amount of bleeding. But it subsided in a few hours. And no issues afterwards. The doctor will give you instructions for your followup care. Take care, wishing you all the best.

5 Reactions@annben Thank you for the information. I plan to call my pulmonologist and see if I am getting anesthesia or not.

2 ReactionsDoes anyone with nodules have chest pain? I was told the nodules don't cause chest pain. My pain is not anxiety or heart issues. I spent the night in the hospital to check out my heart.

I have had many of these. Other than a mild sore throat afterward, I have not experienced pain.

1 ReactionI too had a biopsy by bronchoscopy and it was not painful at all. I didn’t feel anything and no issues after. Good luck and keep positive. It helps.

1 ReactionI had a robotic procedure and was anesthetized. I had little discomfort after.
I had two bronchoscopies. You are under anesthesia during the procedure. You will not feel it at all. You will probably be coughing for a few mintues afterwards.
@medtech4 no it is not painful. You will be sedated
