Anyone Found Help/Explanation for Long Covid Neurological Symptoms?
Has anyone found some help and explanation for their neurological symptoms? Symptoms like tremors, dizziness, difficulty walking, tingling in legs and back, muscles twitches in legs, hand tremors, cognitive dysfunction, ringing in ears, pain and burning in toes and feet. I have these symptoms and more. I have been through MRI of brain and full spine, peripheral nerve testing, muscle function and short fiber nerve tests all in the normal range despite the symptoms. I have been on 900mg gabapentin daily with little improvement, then things got much worse after getting the booster last month. Would love to hear from some that have found help and explanation.

Hi all. I'm a 71-year old female with 5-1/2 years of Long Covid. Last December after 6 months of treatment at the MedHelp Long Covid clinic in Birmingham, I saw improvement of most of my symptoms, but no improvement in brain fog. It was hard to know how much of the brain fog was age-related decline, and how much was from Long Covid. As a result, they ran a p-tau217 blood test, revealing I have the biomarker for Alzheimer's (no surprise considering my extensive family history of Dementia and Alzheimers). I saw my GP in January, who referred me to a neurologist. I'd been tested for Alzheimer's a few times since first seeing my GP for mild cognitive impairment related to memory, language, attention and focus, but the neuroligist tested me again. He assured me I don't yet have Alzheimer's and despite the results of the p-tau217 test, the possibility is not certain. He put me on Aricept 5 mg, which has really helped with my mild cognitive symptoms and improved my quality of life to the degree that family and friends comment on my improvement. I also began Physical Therapy 6 weeks ago to improve balance, strength, and stamina in hopes of regaining the active lifestyle I enjoyed before Covid. This was my third attempt at Physical Therapy. I discovered not all PT clinics understand Long Covid and how it affects you (particularly the fatigue), and as a result treat you as they would treat someone without Long Covid. I finally found a group willing to work with me at the pace that's right for me day by day, doesn't push me beyond my capabilities, and evaluates me often to determine where I stand and where I still need work. This has made a huge difference in not only my physical improvement but my mental improvement. As we know, finding a doctor or therapist who understands Long Covid and treats you based on your specific symptoms is a difficult journey. I understand not everyone wants to know if they may develop Alzheimer's, and not everyone will have this biomarker (positive test resuts depend on age and degree of cognitive impairment). But this knowledge has helped me and my family begin preparations sooner rather than later for that possibility, and given me peace of mind that I'm doing all I can to deal with whatever comes next. I hope this helps someone suffering as I have to get the help they need!
