Brinsupri experience after 3+ months

Posted by scoop @scoop, Jan 2 10:34am

Brinsupri may take 3–6 months to reach full effect.
Please use this thread to share first-hand experiences only if you have been on Brinsupri for 3 months or longer.

To keep this discussion useful and focused, let’s limit comments to actual outcomes, side effects, or changes you’ve observed after at least 3 months of use.

General questions, early impressions (< 3 months), speculation, or unrelated discussions please post in a separate thread.

Glad you’re doing better!
What were the “bumps in the road”?

@debrat
Just a range of different symptoms. Some took a while to pass, others not long. Like the heartburn someone mentioned. I had that for a couple of weeks in the beginning and it was not pleasant at all but I gave it some time and it passed and never returned. Sometimes I would go through a "spell" where I thought maybe the Brinsupri had stopped working because my symptoms seemed to almost be returning back to their "pre-Brinsupri" state, but that passed. I seem to be pretty stable now- but there may be another surprise, it has been about 9 months now and they say to give it a year.

@jago I looked up Trace Electrolyte Stamina pills. Looks good. I have taken Ultima in the past that did not have "fruit" flavoring. I always prefer to be sure sugar is not on the label and not artificial flavorings.
Glad you mentioned Trace Electrolyte Stamina pills.

I ordered the Trace Electrolyte Stamina pills. When they arrived I noticed that they contain iron. Iron can be damaging to organs, if taken by women past Menses. Iron for older women should only be taken, if recommended by a Doctor. I don’t think iron is an electrolyte.

@sallyb827 Thanks for posting this information.
It is so important to know what we should and should not be taking and how much when it comes to supplements. We also have to know ourselves in terms of our health and needs to know what to take or not take....what is needed etc. After menopause, especially, or taking medications, having a chronic illness etc. etc.
My sister answered me about the Trace Electrolyte Stamina pills. She has worked and managed Health Food Stores and has worked in the Vitamin Dept. of Whole Foods Markets for 15 years. She is a very healthy 70 year old, no chronic illness and not on any medications. She said WFMarkets have a liquid product for Electrolytes. I have not gone to look at the product as yet.

Thank you for the information about the electrolyte liquid product at Whole Foods. I will definitely check it out. I have been using liquid IV but would like to use something without sugar.

@sallyb827 and @blm1007blm1007 Why are you using an electrolyte supplement? Hardly any of us need them, except under the following situations:
People with diagnosed, chronic electrolyte imbalance.
After prolonged physical activity, like running for one hour or more.
Outdoor workers, especially those working in hot, humid climates.
Recovering from an illness causing dehydration, such as a bout of diarrhea or vomiting.

The opinion that 'ordinary people" don't need electrolyte supplements is nearly universal amongst experts, regardless of the hype by the supplement and health food industry. Here is the opinion published by Harvard:

As for me, I pour a glass of orange juice or (lactose free) milk, and get the added bonus of the other nutrients.

I find that the days I work out using electrolytes I have no cramping in my legs or feet at night. When I don’t take electrolytes after working out, I have cramping in my legs at night. Yes, I take magnesium supplements. I know what works for my body.

@sueinmn I do not take such type of supplement product regularly only when an event has affected my health, a sodium/potassium imbalance, and I know I need to replenish.
I have had problems in the past and needed to correct an imbalance and usually just a potassium tablet with help ,.......with lower back muscle pain and or leg cramps/charlie horse leg pain.
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestion.
