Life after bilateral orchiectomy how do you cope?

Posted by bearman683 @bearman683, 1 day ago

I had bilateral orchiectomy 7 years ago and had no counciling offered before or after surgery because it wasn't cancer related. I've had emotional problems dealing with this ever since. I don't fit into any support groups because of the surgeries were for medical reasons and not gender affirming or cancer related. I need help finding resources to deal with this. It would be nice to have someone who has experience this to talk to. The surgeries had many complications and healing took 9 months and had to use wound care clinic for 6 months. Everything that could go wrong did. Been dealing with this by myself with no support from anyone not even family.

Had bilateral orchiectomy no counciling offered. Medically nessary not cancer or gender affirming related. Had surgery and many complications ended up being operated on 4 different times. Wound wouldn't heal went to wound clinic and had home care nurse for 6 months. Body image problems I self isolate because I don't feel comfortable with myself. Hormone therapy problems. Just need to talk with someone who's gone through this. No suport groups for noncancerous bilateral orchiectomy survivor found.

I'm amazed you haven't been offered testosterone patches or injections. You could restore your male virility. Being a eunuch can have long term degeneration of your bones and can cause weight gain .

I'm on injectable testosterone replacement therapy but am having issues. Just saw endocrinologist yesterday and today stopped at ACL lab for blood work. Hopefully he will be able to address the problems I'm having.
