Life after bilateral orchiectomy how do you cope?

Had bilateral orchiectomy no counciling offered. Medically nessary not cancer or gender affirming related. Had surgery and many complications ended up being operated on 4 different times. Wound wouldn't heal went to wound clinic and had home care nurse for 6 months. Body image problems I self isolate because I don't feel comfortable with myself. Hormone therapy problems. Just need to talk with someone who's gone through this. No suport groups for noncancerous bilateral orchiectomy survivor found.

I'm amazed you haven't been offered testosterone patches or injections. You could restore your male virility. Being a eunuch can have long term degeneration of your bones and can cause weight gain .

I'm on injectable testosterone replacement therapy but am having issues. Just saw endocrinologist yesterday and today stopped at ACL lab for blood work. Hopefully he will be able to address the problems I'm having.

@bearman683 so why haven’t you reached out for therapy yourself? Have you complained to anyone of your treatment team about the issues you’ve described? You had home health nursing care for 6 months that could have helped direct you or helped set you up with treatment. No time like the present to get help.

My health care team only delt with the physical medical problems. By time I was healed my uroligist retired and the clinic didn't have anyone who could take care of my medical needs. I had to fund my own endocrinologist to take charge of my testosterone replacement therapy because I was left with no one who would deal with me. I had to find a new uroligist in a different city who had the expertise to deal with my complicated urological problems. When my uroligist left I was in serious need of a button turp procedure because of restricted urinary flow and the medications not working. The new uroligist preformed the procedure and it went well. I talked to the new uroligist about problems I was having post bilateral orchectomy and button turp and all he said is that I'm a very unusual case and said that I would have to get use to the new reality of sexual problems from my complicated surgical history. No counciling was mentioned. I didn't know who to talk to about my circumstances. I did ask a councilor I was see for abuse issues if she thought that the testicular cancer group would be willing to help. She said no because I didn't have cancer they wouldn't except me. I also asked about prostate cancer support groups but was told the same thing that nobody was going to help me. I currently have spoke out for myself and with research on the internet I am going to be seeing a male councilor who deals with trama and men's health issues.

It would be nice to find some kind of support group to talk with other men about this.

For what’s it’s worth most home health agencies who treat Medicare patients have mental health staff associated with them. No it does not related to a cancer diagnosis for them to assist you and I can appreciate the delicacy of your predicament and the situation you’re in. I am sorry you’ve run into a lack of resources available to you.
