Can I go on a coach holiday after TURBT has shown stage 1 cancer

I am due to have TURBT in 4 days for scrapping of a 3cms tumour and 4 smaller tumours. If I need treatment afterwards I am wondering if I will still be able to go on a holiday to Scotland that we have booked for the end of August. Does the treatment make you feel too poorly to enjoy a 5 day break or is it advisable to cancel. ?

I wouldn't cancel. You'll be fine. Schedule any followup appointments around your travel.

That should be plenty of time to be recovered from the surgery.

I had a very similar situation. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer a month before a scheduled two week trip to France and a couple weeks after my second cystoscopy with TURBT. My urologist told me to go on the trip and my chemo would start shortly after I returned. I returned home on a Tuesday and chemo began that Friday. Chemo is now done and I have a follow up cystoscopy in July. My urologist said they used to always wait a month before starting chemo so it was not a problem. I have NMIBC.

My doctor waited 3 weeks before he started the chemo on me. As long as you feel good enough to travel then take the trip, It took only a couple days to recover from my surgery. So I was pretty much free to do whatever I wanted.

I had a pretty significant TURBT (8cm total of tumor in two separate locations) last fall and flew to Las Vegas a week later, which is about a 4 hour flight for me. I’m guessing you’d be fine to go on a trip in a couple of months, even if you had a full round of BCG in the interim.

@chunkybum801, how did the TRUBT go? Will you need further treatment? Feeling like you can go on your getaway at the end of August?
