Hi @bustrbrwn22 as for myself I did eye exercises daily for 4 months before deciding to stop. I used an app to do the exercise I planned for that day 3 times throughout the day. In the app there were 5 eye exercises total which I rotated to meet my daily schedule. Every month I increased the number of times I performed each exercise by one. I started at 3 times daily and slowly worked my way up to 6 times. I did notice an improvement where my bad eye tried to slide to match the other image. It never got there because I still had double vision. The slow reaction time increased my motion sickness. I also felt the imbalance more in my ears. I stopped so my eyes would settle in time for the surgery since my vision was not correcting. The image of the bad eye kept shifting up and down and not settling. A month after stopping the eye exercises, my ears had less pain and the reaction time of the bad eye has decreased significantly. The bad eye image has almost stopped shifting. My motion sickness has gotten better.
I don’t have an exercise program for other improvements but basically the more you practice the better your outcome. In essence you are retraining your brain to use different pathways to get to the same results. The idea is to bypass the nervous system to use healthy nerves. I use my opposite limbs to complete tasks I used to do in hopes those limbs will get stronger and perform better. I never purchased the books Barry has suggested. Instead, I found basic information online to be able to follow neuroplasticity.
I will say the website I once mentioned for VR therapy(VRxTherapy.com) has contacted me. They asked if I have a pair of VR goggles. The answer is yes. I am hoping for the next step to perform exercises(neuroplasticity) the website recommends for improving my neuropathy. Time and patience is needed to be successful with neuroplasticity. You can put your mind to it, lol. Good luck. Toni

Okay, if do you want to help with any questions I got one for you.
I read this but I’m not sure if it’s true. It said when you’re neuropathy changes from all or most of the painful symptoms go away and you get more numbness your Neuropathy is getting worse.
What do you think?
Ever hear the before? Are used to have all the horrendously painful symptoms but they went away and now The numbness has gone all the way up to just passed my waist. I can’t feel my feet at all and keep trying to takeoff my shoes and socks which you’re already off but I can’t tell my lower legs are pretty bad too and the numbness eases the farther up it goes, at least for now.
Any ideas,
Jake

@jakedduck1. Dang neuropathy! Jake, I'm so sorry you going through that.

Mine was that bad too, when I was on mega-prednisone for 1 1/2 years, from June, 2019 to November, 2020. Numb right up to my waist. Now, it's gone to pain and numbness up to my knees, with numb toes. It isn't too bad during the day, but worse after dinner, really bad in the evening, and most of the night. Hard to get to sleep, and stay asleep. Always get up by 4:00 a.m.

I've been doing trials with carbs, because my neuropathy gets so bad after dinner. That's what it turned out to be! Eureka! I tried to cut most carbs out of my diet and that definitely helped. But, my blood glucose kept plummeting so I kept trying to remedy that. Hopeless though, living in a seniors' residence with set meal choices. Lots of pasta, bread, rice, potatoes. So, I'm back eating carbs and suffering from this dang neuropathy. It helps somewhat to walk so I can't wait for the weather to smarten up! Under all this manure, there must be a PONY somewhere!! Lol

I don't mind the numbness. So much better than that horrible pain so many years ago.
I fall more because I trip myself but I fall a lot anyway so no big deal.
It's a bother to try and take off my shoes and socks that are already off. But no biggie. I doubt I’ll ever mentioned it to a doctor. Probably nothing they can do anyway.
Take care of yourself,
Jake

@jakedduck1 I know, Jake. We're always told "Sorry, nothing we can do for that". We've all been down that road, that's for sure. But I worry about you.
I read a good research article today about Turmeric and Lichen Planus, which is my latest autoimmune disease diagnosed this week by yet another specialist. No cure known.
Wonder if there's any relationship to my GCA? I'll research that tomorrow.
Prognosis:18 months to forever.
Very painful, difficult to eat, talk, etc.
So depressing. I'm going to give Turmeric capsules a try.
Happy trails to all you good people with the good weather. Ours is coming too!!

PS. Just to clarify - I don't mean to imply that carbs CAUSE neuropathy, if that's how my post sounds. I only mean that, in my case, carbs seem to make it so much worse. When I re-read my post, I sound like a bit of a wing nut the way I've expressed the idea. Lol. I really need to get out walking in the fresh air!!

Thank you for your concern but I'm doing great.
There were many difficult year's but thankfully those times are gone.
The orthopedic doctor recommended turmeric for my Mom's knee pain. Her pain disappeared. She took 2,000mg a day per doctors orders.
I hope it helps you as much as it helped my mom.

@jakedduck1 Thankyou for your encouraging story about your Mom's use of Turmeric for her knee pain. I'm sure going to give it a try. The specialist had prescribed a corticosteroid, which the pharmaceutical information warned that it should not be used on mouth, nose, etc., and only externally. Yikes. I was afraid to use it.
I'm happy to hear that you're doing well these days, although I think you are very stoic and put forth a brave and positive front for us, Jake. Good on ya', pardner!
Keep well. Happy trails. Laur
