Anyone else been diagnosed with a borderline ovarian tumor?

Posted by EW @ew62, Sep 3, 2022

Two years ago, I underwent a hysterectomy to remove an 11cm tumor on my left ovary, and all the markers pointed to cancer. After my surgery, results showed I had a borderline tumor. Thus I did not need chemo or radiation. I go in every six months for blood work and scans for further tumor development. I am tumor free thus far. Has anyone else been diagnosed with a borderline tumor? I am curious as there is not a lot of information about them.

Thank you!!

@alh4791 Thank you for your reply. With all the changes including a hysterectomy your reply shows that you are making room, emotionally, for it all. You have supportive people, people who listen to you, and are working towards accepting that the life now and ahead isn't quite how you thought it would be. You are so right. Deep down, we know that but we can hope for the life we designed for ourselves.

I'm happy to know that you feel the connection here on Mayo Clinic Connect is helpful for you. Like you, I stumbled on Connect after my hysterectomy for endometrial cancer. That was almost 7 years ago. It's the only site I've "stuck with" because I feel that we support one another by sharing our own stories with respect for one another.

What is Spring like where you live? Do you enjoy a change of seasons?

@alh4791 Minnesota and Michigan (where I live) just went through a long winter with a lot of snow. It feels good to see those Spring flowers and buds on the trees.

I am presently admitted. All I know is from the CT SCAN and Ultrasound I have a tumor 11cm in size. And still waiting for the result of Doctors investigation. But I am praying that it is Benign. It is really uncomfortable and fear is in me waiting for the results. My symptoms was stomach pain going down my groin and on my lower back and it is so sudden that I felt all this. It started feeling the stomach pain on bed time and I thoughg it is just an ordinary stomach pain. Went to work the following day and that where the pain started to go down my groin and lower back. I immediately inform our nurse at work and they send me home and immediately went to walk in centre for check up and they have given me referral letter going to the hospital and after the first series of test right there and then I was admited, the thought of going home after the check up did not happen. I ended up in hospital bed for more series of blood test, scan and ultrasound. I have a regular vowel movement and regular urination. But I urinate often at night when I am already in bed. I still have a good appetite. Now I am here at the hospital with uncertainties, waiting for results with fear. Praying that the results is BENIGN to put me more at peace. That is why I happen to find this website and read testimonies from everyone. And it helps me not to worry too much. I am thankful to find this page.
