Stem Cells and Idiopathic Neuropathy
I have idiopathic neuropathy in my feet and cannot tolerate pain medications. Does anyone know what the status is with research into stem cells for treating this? I am most interested in clinical research, such as at Mayo Clinic but it's hard to sort through the information on their website.

@lgkent, I also have idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy and would love it if stem cell therapy was an option for treatment but I have seen no evidence or studies that it has worked for anyone with neuropathy. I was surprised to find one clinical study by Rochester Mayo Clinic and thought about checking it out but I think idiopathic is not what they are looking for in participant eligibility.

I'd be fine with it if it worked. It did not for me. To make a blanket statement against something is ridiculous. If it works for somebody else, I will applaud.

There is nothing "anti-Christian" about stem cell therapy. Stem cells are found in everyone's body and help maintain our good health by creating new cells. Stem cell therapy does not use cells from umbilical cord blood as it did when first discovered. The therapy removes stem cells by centrifuging some of your own blood to concentrate the stem cells. Then just minutes later those cells are injected into the area that needs healing and recovery. Curently this produces positive results in many cases but the effect is due to the growth factors that come with the cells as the stem cell themselves do not last long. Scientists are trying to figure out why this happens so there is much room for advancement in this therapy. Stay tuned.

I just had stem cells injected into my left foot. The nurse used ultra sound to I’d nerve location. Procedure was done on May 30 ,2026. Today is June 5 2026 and last night was a good night sleep for me. I track my sleep score using the Apple Health App. I do have other issues that may be impacting my sleep score. I do have some form of neuropathy’s. The nurse did have me close my eyes as she tested my foot for response. My goal is to improve sleep.
@rjc1955 This sounds promising. Where did you have the stem cells injected into your foot?
Left foot on right side just below where the foot attaches to lower leg bone. The nurse came to our home and she confirmed neuropathy by testing sole of foot. Then she used a portable ultrasound connected to her lap top to locate the desired nerve and location. I asked Claude search engine to build me a custom spread sheet that I use daily to track My foot score rating 1-10 and then I input Apple sleep score with a daily note. I paid 10.5k for the injection, so we want to track my score to determine if Further injections are worth the expense.
