cramping around heart

Posted by bbuck @bbuck, May 14 10:35am

Hi. Has anyone felt a cramping around the heart? It is different than angina/slow burn. Felt this sensation and was somewhat alarmed. My muscles in other parts of the body do cramp more often in the summer. Thanks.

Not sure if my cramping is the same as your. But mine can feel very tight. It can last for a minute or hours. I also get leg and foot cramping I can look at my calfs and watch them twitch, this is very different from what my heart is doing. My heart is just a long cramp that I describe as tightness. I am hoping the upcoming surgery relieves this.

@jeannelamana I agree with the other comments to address it quickly. Just an FYI, however, is that statins can cause cramping. CoQ10 and hydration are the only ways I've been able to manage it.

As we learned when they were originally prescribed, statins can cause cramping. I know several people who ceased taking them because of that - I was told that it usually happens in the legs. I found this Mayo article that may be useful to read: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-cholesterol/in-depth/statin-side-effects/art-20046013. For those of you who feel the heart cramping, be sure to report this to your doctors who may have advice on how to eliminate it. The article may help people generate new questions to ask. Remember, we are all walking chemical labs and our heart situations make each of us especially unique.
