Psoriasis- Desperate!

Posted by hopenr @hopenr, Aug 18, 2025

I have had psoriasis for about a year. It started on my legs and is creeping up so that one tube of steroidal cream is good for about three applications and it is expensive! I use pine tar soap and I take vitamins D, K, Calcium, Magnesium and zinc. I do not eat gluten or dairy. I use clobetasol and tacrolimus. And....it just doesnt get better. I just had covid during which time it got way worse. I simply do not know what else to do so I am asking you all- who has had good luck on a biologic? I have been scared to try it cause I dont want to lower my immune strength but I am desperate. Can you let me now. Thank you!

@rashida It wasn't working and I have since switched to Bimzelx, but that hasn't been working yet either. I think Bimzelx is causing me some additional issues with my eyes and mouth as well. I keep getting blepharitis as well as psoriasis in and around my eyes and now I have a white tongue, too. I still have to get my tongue checked out but I've already had several treatments for the blepharitis and it goes away but then comes back a while after stopping treatment. I never had this on the other biologics. Actually, while taking Humira, I never had any of these issues, but I can't take that anymore unless I want to pay full price for it. I have to bring all this up with my rheumatologist at my next visit. The last time, she mentioned if Bimzelx didn't work, I could try Tremfya, however, I am skeptical of that working either. It targets the same protein as Skyrizi, which reversed all the clearing I had with Humira, plus my knee blew up while on it.

@njbay I know the frustration of having to switch from something that worked for you to something that reverses all progress! I’ve been there!

I am so sorry Bimzelx has not been working for you. Every body reacts differently to medications so what works for one does nothing for another. Psoriasis treatment is trial and error until you hit the right one. Don’t give up - keep trying the different medications till you find the one that works for your body.

Are you being treated for psoriatic arthritis, or the psoriasis? Have you seen a dermatologist in addition to your rheumatologist?

Remicade works pretty well

I have moderate psoriasis and am going to try GLP-1 to see if it tamps down the inflammation. There are multiple studies that seem to indicate it'll work. I have tried everything in the book to treat but nothing works longterm. I am worried about all the steriod creams and the biologics made me so nauseated. Stay tuned. I'll let you know if it works for me.

@bdenisemiller I also have psoriasis and have been using clobetasol for many years. Would you be willing to share your experience with GLP-1 medications?

Treating Psoriasis using Clobetasol cream 2x day for many years with on-off healing relief- never “gone” as I want to report. I have added Ozempic 2mg injections about 3 years ago for my Diabetes condition. I can only report my experience: The Psoriasis symptoms have not changed one iota since adding Ozempic!
I have not found one thing to help with the abhorrent Psoriasis scaling! If anything, Psoriasis is spreading to more healthy skin tissue on legs, arms, scalp and back (none on feet yet!). I will add that “stress” exasperates my Psoriasis! Best of health to you. Bette

P.S. Methotrexate SCARES the “h” out of me! It is serious stuff that has negatively affected “Nerve Endings” in humans and can be life- threatening! Before considering a recommendation to take this poison, be sure to have your kidneys thoroughly evaluated by a nephrologist - for your own life’s sake. Just my 2cents…
