Linezolid pills

Has anyone taken Linezolid? The doc wants me to take this orally 2 x a day along with 2 IV infusion drugs. Just wondering how it was tolerated. Seems like there are a lot of dietary restrictions while on this?

I took linezolid in 2022 for 6 months along with iv amikacin and oral omadacycline for abscessus/abcessus. At 6 months I had to quit because I was getting neuropathy in my toes and forefeet. The doctor thought it was probably from the linezolid since it is a known potential side effect, but she took me off all of it. I still have the neuropathy, but luckily it hasn’t spread from my toes and forefeet.

I had the same experience but in addition, some suppression of the bone marrow's ability to produce platelets in week 6. The side effects got better within a month. The odd thing is that I had used the medication previously and had done well.
The other thing is the potential for serious drug interactions so ask your pharmacist to help identify any other medications that couls cause a problem.

I had the same experience plus anemia. As an inpatient I started taking Linezolid (600 mg daily) the end of August 2025 along with 2 IVs (Amikacin & Imipenem) for Mycobacterium Abscessus diagnosis. The first of December I was diagnosed with neuropathy in both feet/toes and anemia. Linezolid was stopped. I take Gabapentin (100 mg) at night for the sharp electric pain. Started Nuzyra in September and stopped Amikacin IV. Currently I am on a 4 week break of antibiotics due to elevated liver enzymes, ID doctor assumes side effect from Nuzyra. Having labs this week and if enzymes are in normal range, I will restart Arikayce (inhaled) and potentially start in clinical trial with Clofazimine going forward.
Hoping that you don’t have side effects during your treatment.
Take care.

@janetannfaust just an fyi. I got neuropathy in my feet 20 years ago while being treated for MAC, right at the end of my 18 month treatment. Luckily, little by little the pain resolved. It was probably a year or so…

Good to hear that the pain resolved eventually. I hope that can happen for me.
Have you started your treatment?
