Constant tingly feeling on my urination tract
Hi everyone!
A bit of background, Im only 17 years old, and I was diagnosed with UTI 3 weeks ago. I took antibiotics until my symptoms disappeared, and I took a urine test, and it said there was only a tiny amount of left-out bacteria left. My doctor gave me one last antibiotic after he saw my urine test. After that, my symptoms got better. I didn’t have to pee every 10 mins, my pee was no longer a tiny amount, and there was no longer constant urge.
However, one thing never changes. I keep on feeling CONSTANT, day and night, a tingly uncomfortable feeling on my urination tract for 3 weeks straight and up until now. Its not exactly an urge to urinate, its just a very uncomfortable tingly feeling, almost as if my nerves are very sensitive down there.
I couldnt sleep for days, I kept on staying up at night because I would need to pee 4x at night (around midnight and early morning too).
Im not sure if this is UTI or not because I dont feel pain or pressure at all. Its just this very uncomfortable tingly feeling that never goes away in every second.
Please help me. I seriously havent sleep at all and I feel like im going insane and anxious :(((

I'm so sorry you are having this discomfort. That must be terrible! Especially since it is interfering with your sleep! I would suggest that you go back to your doctor and tell him everything that is going on. Something isn't quite right and the doctor can fix it.
The other thing I would suggest is that you drink a lot of water. I had a uninary infection and was waiting to see my doctor for two weeks. I did some research and discovered that water helps wtih urinary infections. I drank a lot of water and my unrinary infection went away. So I cancelled my doctor appointment.
I hope things work out for you.

Awww thanks for your suggestion 😀
I’ve been drinking way more water than usual ever since I got my UTI and it did help with my infection in daylight. However, it kept on making me urinate a bit more often at night even though I stopped drinking at 8 pm at most.
But thanks once again! ^^

1 ReactionHi there! I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this! When I read through your post, my first thought was that you said you only took your initial antibiotics until your symptoms were gone. Did you finish the entire prescription or just stop once your symptoms stopped? When you don't finish the antibiotics entirely, even if your symptoms are gone, the infection can come back stronger than the first time. I would recommend going back to see your doctor and see what they recommend. If they do prescribe new antibiotics, make sure to take the entire prescription and not quit taking them even if you feel better. Best of luck and feel better soon!

2 ReactionsReturn to the doctor and ask if a culture was done on your urine? Meanwhile, drinking unsweetened cranberry juice may help you feel a tad better. You need to explain to physician (or are you being treated by a PA?) your tingling sensation.
Meanwhile, if you are having sexual relations, you need to hold off until this matter is completely resolved.

Hey theree, thanks for your advice! I took a urine test already and both my bacteria and leukocytes are at positive one, hence why the doctor gave me one last antibiotic. (Also its rare in my country to find a cranberry juice so I consumed yogurt instead)
And no, I wasn’t treated by a PA, my appointment was with a urologist and he said all the bacterias are dead and theres only a bit of left-overs. My UTI did heal after that, but I still feel irritation on my urination tract. Is this normal as a post-UTI symptom?

1 ReactionThere are different types of urine tests. One checks for white blood cells, but the more determinate type checks for culture. If you are being treated by a urologist, you should be in good hands. Nonetheless if your symptoms persist, you need a follow up visit.
I am not a health care provider, but I have had my share of UTIs in my life. There are so many nerve endings that the bladder can feel prickly even after the infection is cleared up. But it should not persist for too long. A week after you finish your meds is too long.

1 ReactionGo back to the doctor. I had this when I was 19. It felt like my bladder was "anxious". Turns out my bladder was "stressed" and overworked because I had been drinking too much water for too long due to being undiagnosed type 2 Diabetic. Also, I've read recently it could also be an STI. So, I recommend more testing. Good Luck.

2 Reactions...sorry, was just curious about this (have all kinds of issues).... but wondered IF you are "not used to" eating yogurt (I cant take cranberry as irritates my bladder) anyway, just a thought: Internet - "Watch for Dairy Sensitivity: While plain yogurt is usually well-tolerated, some individuals find that dairy acts as a bladder irritant. Pay attention to how your body reacts after eating it." J

Oh im sorry to hear that 🙁
Im afraid this might be my case as well. Did the doctor give you any medicine or antibiotics after that? And how is your bladder doing now?

Oh I didnt know that diary can irritate the bladder! But rest assured, it’s not the yogurt. I’ve been consuming yogurt and diary since I was small and it never irritates my bladder. I also feel better after consuming probiotics along with more water
