What brought you joy today?

Posted by northoftheborder @northoftheborder, Jun 28, 2024

If you've been living with cancer for a while, you know it's not all gloom and doom. Where did you find joy today? I'll start:

1. Working in my garden.
2. Meeting my daughter for tea.
3. Home-made pizza for dinner.
4. My spouse (always).
5. Some interesting online discussions.
6. Rereading a good novel.

My dear friend has been diagnosed with this cancer and I want to learn as much as I can and how I can support her.

I don’t get flowers anymore. I told my husband and my son that I don’t want to take care of cut flowers. Get me a flower plant instead. Well, now I don’t get either!😀

Bought an onion at Kwik Trip!

Hi @sevillas We can find joy in the most unexpected events! Buying an onion at Kwik Trip! Love it. Having had cancer and being treated in Rochester for 4 months, I remember my first outing on the way home had us stopping for gas at Kwik Trip. My big moment was getting a sandwich that I’d been hungry for, for months! What would we do without KT…

By the way, Welcome to Mayo Connect. What brought you to our forum today? What made this onion at Kwik Trip a special moment?

I know, Kwik Trip's are so special to me. Everyone is so kind, and the selections are always great. As for the $0.39/lb onion, how can you beat that??!!!

And thanks for the forum. I'm just feeling a range of emotions, so it's nice to know that others are also feeling the range. Great support!

Now I get lots of food instead. I’ll tell them no food because I don’t want to gain more weight. I put on 10 lbs from Exemestane. If I gain any more, they have to break the door for me to get through 😂. Thanks everyone for sharing simple happiness. At our age, we appreciate simple pleasures life brings. Hugs to all.

@sevillas We did, too! I found a recipe on Pinterest for "onion bombs". There were several different ones but I went with ground beef, cheese and bacon. I stuffed the onions like stuffed peppers. They were so sweet after roasting and the filling was moist. Kwik Trip onions...who knew?

The official so far is:
Triple negative Metaplastic breast cancer squamous cell.
And in the armpit is squamous cell highly aggressive.
The breast is nonsquamous in ducts but highly invasive held in by thin skin layer.
She said it is very rare. Less than 1%
