Hi Trish @cocodab, welcome to Connect. Thank you for sharing. I have small fiber peripheral neuropathy but only have the numbness and no pain. It must be difficult deal with the pain but I'm hoping you can take a little comfort in knowing you are not alone and there are other members here with similar stories. @jenniferhunter may be able to share some suggestions with you on helping with the pain. She started a great discussion on Myofascial Release Therapy that may be helpful to you.

Are you taking any medications for the pain? Have you tried any other treatments or therapy to help with the pain?

so for years I've had some numbness in my toes and GP told me it was neuropathy. Also my left knee had surgery on it many years ago. I also often have low back pain. If I sit for a long time my leg often goes to "sleep" but I can move it around and I'm back to feeling. Also if I put my left foot on a stool and let that left leg be there a while with no support under it other than the foot it gets very stiff and soar. So anyway I was picking up my daughter in Texas (flew down driving back), all was normal went down to lobby to get breakfast can back to room and propped my leg up to do some computer work. When I stood up my leg was asleep............but it wont wake up! Today is day 5. I was concerned while driving back from Texas to Ohio so stopped into emergency room to ensure it wasn't heart attack or stroke or something that I should not be traveling with. They sorta think pinched nerve and gave me some predisone and a muscle relaxer. Can neuropathy just suddenly take over a whole limb like this? Butt cheek to toe has numbness.........scared to death I wont be walking at all soon

I've experienced similar symptoms when I sleep on my arm and wake up and my entire arm is numb/tingling. In my case it doesn't last long but long enough to worry about the cause. The doctor told me it was a pinched nerve and I tend to agree with him. Once the nerve was no longer being pinched things went back to normal. In your case where it's still the same after 5 days I would also be concerned and want to find out the cause. Here's an article that may provide some information.

Why are my legs and feet numb?

Are you still traveling home? You might want to see if you can get an appointment with your doctor or a neurologist if you still have the numbness.

@gojuman did the muscle relaxer and/or the prednisone help with the numbness and tingling in your leg? Just wondering if you have found any relief for your symptoms.

no change at all, but I'm guessing riding in a car for so many follow up days was not ideal. I made an appointment for a neurologist but it's 3 weeks away. I'm going to try to see my GP much sooner. I'm beginning to wonder if my old bad knee could be so inflamed that it's numbed the rest of my leg? But then I see things like MS online that causes numbness. I just didn't think neuropathy could just take a whole lime in the matter of a few hours?? I'm just terrified my life is over starting with my career. I have felt this many times because of my low back but it just won't wake up this time.
