Does anyone have any experience with MEIBO (PF) drops for dry eyes?

Posted by trishaanderson @trishaanderson, Jan 11, 2025

I've tried many suggestions from several ophthalmologists for my dry eyes, which started after Cataract surgery.
My current ophthalmologist at Mayo Clinic has suggested Meibo drops. She sent the Rx to BlinkRX, and with my insurance, it's $627!

Has anyone experienced heart palpitations with Meibo eye drops? I have developed very frequent PVCs. Internet says uncommon symptom.

Paul no I didn’t have any heart palpitations with Meibo. I just made my eyes feel worse so now I’ve been on Vivye eye drops for nearly 2 years.
I also have Fuch’s Dystrophy of the eyes that may be why they didn’t help me.

It took five days to receive my order from Germany. I live in the southern US.

One bottle should last a month, but you need to follow the directions on how to dispense* it, or a huge drop will come out sideways and miss your eye. I had many land on my face at first, and I’ve been putting drops in my eyes for decades.

( * Squeeze the bottle. Turn it upside down and stop squeezing. You’ll hear an “air sucking” sound. Squeeze again to dispense a tiny drop.)

The protocol is one drop in each eye, four times/day. No more, no less.

@ella101 thank you so much for explaining how to dispense this product.

@quintus1920 You’re welcome! The instructions tell you how to use the eye drops, which I failed to read at first. Lol

I use Miebo but only in my left eye. I’m on brimonidine and dorzolamide timolol for ocular hypertension in that eye, which caused painful dry eye. The Miebo helped immensely. I wouldn’t say my eye feels 100% normal but it’s made the drops way more tolerable. I get it through Blink Rx and have no co-pay, but sometimes they take FOREVER to ship refills.

I have chronic dry eyes and been prescribed every type of eye drops out there. The 2 most helpful things I have found over several decades are 1) Miebo and 2) Lacrifill- an in office procedure. I have found Miebo to be more effective than other treatments for dry eye syndrome.

You can do what I do. Travel to London and go to Boots pharmacy. Buy Hycosan Shield eye drops over the counter for approximately $20. It’s the same as Miebo. If not UK, then go to any EU Country buy either Evo Tears or Nova Tears. All are 100% Perfluorohexyloctane, and all over the counter. The round trip will be nice for you and still be less than your R/X here in U.S. Coming back in Our Country, put bottles in checked luggage, spread bottles our among your clothing.

@maldridge51 I bought 11 bottles of Hylo Lipid in France for under 12 Euros each. They are exactly the same as Meibo. I had to go to multiple pharmacies to get them, but it made the trip more fun seeing how their pharmacy system works.

I've also used Xdemvy, which is incredible. If you have MGD, you may also have Demodex mites (everyone over 70 yo does). Ask you opthalmologist if you have collerates (crusty stuff on your lashes). If you do, have them prescribe Xdemvy. It worked so well for me I bought stock in the company.

@nancyjg I have tried Miebo and didn’t like it. It made my eyes feel worse. I use Ivizia drops and they seem to help. It’s so interesting how we all seem to get relief from totally different products.

I’m trialing Miebo with a free sample from the opthalmologist. Doesn’t seem to help at all….but I also have corneal dystrophy (EBMD), so there’s that!
Doctor also wants me to use Xdemvy, but even with my Medicare drug plan, the cost is almost $1,000! 🥺
