I have had vaginal Lichen Sclerosus for many years with several flareups. I am interested in learning of any successful treatments or recommendations.

I have had it many years. I found that glycerin soap is best to use, not perfumed or harsh soap. Maybe Neutrogena or Pears. Clobetesol works for me, but you need to use it by prescription on a constant regular schedule and do not miss a month or week, or it all gets itchy and takes months to clear up. Emu oil and emu soap also seems to work sometimes, in between clobetisol weeks. And cotton underwear is a must. Nylon and polyester just seems to irritate it. After many years of every week, the last 10 years my dosage is twice per day for 7 days, one week per month, the same week each month. In addition, Estrogen cream twice per week, every week works for me. They key for me is to be consistent using the clobetesol.

@ana537 This is very helpful. Where do you buy cotton underwear?

Ive had Lichen sclerosis for about 6 years for sure now, I also have long covid and I only have 1 working kidney so internal meds or not an option. I have flareups about every 4 weeks and no creams have worked. Sex is out of the question as my skin tears and the itching is driving me crazy. My Dr. really doesn't take me seriously, she looks at it when its bad and says "oh we need to get this under control" Really??? then never does anything else. I need something to stop the itch please, any recommendations will be appreciated.

@frustratedlady50 I don’t have this disease, but I have Long Covid and have had no taste or smell for almost 4 years now. I know what you mean about not being treated. I went to the Long Covid Clinic at Northwestern Chicago and was told by the Chief of Neuro and Infectious Disease that I would never regain my taste or smell. Really??? He left the room and never looked back! It’s awful the way we’re treated. I am sorry you were treated that way and that you’re suffering. We all need a little grace. Wishing you all the best.

Check out Dr Coyle in Pensacola who developed a Tulip laser that has healed scarring from lichen sclerosis… I had laser therapy and I’m 99% better!!!
Amazing!!

The treatment that works best for me is Tulip Procedure done at Coyle Institute in Pensacola, Florida USA. Followed by ozonated coconut oil constantly to keep the tissues from gluing themselves together quickly. It’s not yet covered by insurance, and costs about $3500 the first treatment, and half of that for any following treatments. I live in Arizona, but no doctor here has done anything comparable in putting my LS in remission.
I’ve had the Tulip Procedure done three times over the past 10 years, and am in need of a fourth treatment soon, as the LS is beginning to rear its ugly, miserable head again.
When I go to Dr Coyle, he does his laser treatment and then I go a few miles away to rest in a condo overlooking The Gulf of Mexico for 5-7 days until I can heal enough to fly home again comfortably. He’s super kind, and understanding of all things vulva and our sexuality. Always talks to my husband about any concerns about my/our needs, too.
In the past I’ve tried all the ointments and steroids everyone else mentions on here. This laser treatment has been keeping me sane for the past ten years. I truly KNOW what you go through each day. Big HUG!

@edtaraujo Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I see that you’ve been around since March but this is your first comment. So, welcome!
Have you asked your doctor about laser therapy or is there another treatment they recommend??

When I first was diagnosed, my ob had me take it odine drops and cleared it up. I stopped taking iodine but it's not returned. My situation may be unique but iodine couldn't hurt to try.
