How do I get rid of Morton's Neuroma?

Posted by smoen55 @smoen55, Jan 17, 2017

I have been diagnosed with Morton's Neuroma in each foot between my 3rd and 4th metatarsal. How do I get rid of these?

Who is the best doctor to diagnose and treat metatarsal? I’m not sure what’s causing the pain, the primary care doctor recommended epsom salt, but is only temporary relief. Thanks

@joei777 Metatarsal pain? Or something different like a stress fracture?

@joei777 If it feels like a rock under your toes, maybe a neuroma. But if it is pain we srepping down, it could be a stress fracture or a strain. I might try to give it a rest for a few days, maybe some ice and elevation, if no better see my doc.
Also, I have arthritis in my feet and being barefoot on a hard surface can really make my foot hurt. Does it help to wear a soft shoe or slipper?

Soft shoe or slipper relieve only sometime. Waiting to see the primary doctor this week, thank you for your information.

Today primary care doctor referred to podiatrist to be evaluated, in the meantime prescribed Celebrex 200 mg once a day , anyone taking this? Side effects etc?

@joei777 I found Celebrex to be a pretty easy to tolerate NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) but my rheumatologist only allows short -trem use (a month or two at a time) as long-term use can cause stomach pain and (rarely) kidney damage.

The key is to take it as prescribed to tame the inflammation, don't wait for severe pain.

I HAD A MORTONS NEUROMA YEARS AGO, SUCH PAIN, WAS UNBEARABLE, ORTHOPEADIC PHYSICIAN REMOVED THAT, NEVER ANOTHER PANG OF PAIN, NOT LONG RECOVERY, i THINK PODIATRIST IS NOT THE ONE TO TAKE THAT OUT, BUT i AM NO EXPERT

@joei777 Yikes, that's not normal. I would call the doc/clinic and see if it's okay to take ibuprofen or something else instead
