Hey everyone, I am Heidi, I don't even know where to start anymore. I am 46 years old and from Minnesota. So, to recap my pain history I guess I can sum it up to 7 back surgeries, 2 knee surgeries, 2-foot surgeries (opposite of knees), 4 organs removed, and my newest scar is compartment Syndrome from when I went to the Emergency Room. I went in because I could not and still do not feel my right leg. When I came out of the hospital, I was in an Arm Sling. The contrast dye blew up in my arm, and OMG did it hurt. Now this past January I was told I am in stage 4 kidney failure. To make things worse, I have blown up with water down both of my legs, they think it is from my Lyrica, so now they are taking that away from me too. I do not know what to do, I feel like they don't believe me. I have a nurse calling me weekly and that isn't helping. I am sick of being in pain I am sick of not being listened to, My depression is so bad now I don't even want to leave my room. To top it all off I work for Mayo and don't know what to do, it hurts so bad I am starting to miss work from pain.

@heidiaarre Heidi- My heart goes out to you, I’m sincerely sorry for your pain. Are you being treated by a doctor at Mayo ? I hope your situation improves. I’ve been through several pain management docs, some just don’t listen. I kept looking for a better doctor and ultimately found one. I hope you can too .

Hi my name is Rhonda and I have chronic health issues. I know I’m going through as we speak Neoraphy from being a Diebic and it’s kicking the heck out of me! The pain is so bad, I don’t know what to do anymore!
Cinnamon, honey, gabbapentine, red tea with sea moss. Nothing seems to help this condition! Any suggestions? Please and Thank you🙌🏽

My name is David Yapp; I retired from work two months ago. I was a financial controller for 4 life science companies (Baxter Healthcare, Novartis, Amgen, and Danaher); I had an ependymoma (C6/C7) removed from my spinal cord 27 years ago which impacted my walking & pain levels (degrading over time); I'm also a type 1.5 diabetic & have to be careful of my food intake to keep my A1C below 7.0. I'm ready to start the next chapter in my life. I really like to help people like they helped me 27 years ago (a pretty scary time). If you'd like to chat or ask me questions, please feel free.

@mzlovely, do you have insurance and does it cover pain management. There might be ways to handle your pain without narcotics, which seems to be your goal.

Hi my name is Melissa. I am 58 years old. I herniated a lumbar disc in 2014 had one surgery, then had another surgery in 2016 at the same level. In 2019 had surgery on my neck. All those specific areas don't seem to cause me significant pain anymore but it seems they've led to a cascade effect throughout my body. I have acute on chronic pain in one hip and hamstring that no one can figure out. I've had multiple surgeries on my hands and now have chronic pain there as well. Over the last year I've had a flare up of TMJ that I didn't even know I had which led to treatment of my teeth and jaw and a significant amount of weight loss. It seems like when one thing stops hurting another thing starts. I never stopped being active because that keeps my spirits up and my body strong. It's a huge bummer that in many ways I seem to have more issues than my 86-year-old mother. Also a bummer that I had planned other things for retirement. LOL

@melissamc Very few of us get to pick their retirement and are able to actually live that way. I had planned on working at my job until I was 70 so the house would be paid off, but I came up 14 years short on my plans. The reason, chronic pain from osteoarthritis and idiopathic neuropathy in my feet. We lost the house after I had to "retire" and go on permanent disability for over a decade. Now I'm 67, live in chronic pain 24/7/365 days a year, and we'll never own a home again while struggling financially this whole time. The reason I might sound bitter is because I am. This isn't what I envisioned as my retirement.

My online name is CaroleSG. I originally joined the myeloma group many years ago then found this Chronic Pain group. I have systemic arthritis with concentrations in both feet, hands, cervical spine plus entire spine. After 30 years of NSAIDS with subsequent kidney damage which eliminated my use of NSAIDS, my pain is partially helped with Tramadol, a MILD opioid, arthritis strength Tylenol 650 mg tabs, and occasional cortisone shots when I just can’t stand pain anymore. I am currently researching physicians who specialize in finger joint replacements. I became a nurse late in life and I like to help others by giving information.

Hi, I am Betty. I have had chronic back and leg pain for 40 years. I currently suffer from TERRIBLE pain and nothing helps much at all. I have a spinal stimulator and it is worthless. I would welcome any help.
