Living with lung cancer - Introduce yourself & come say hi

@lls8000 Thanks for the follow up. Surgery did go well and I am recovering. Slowly but recovering. It's only been a few days. Everything went as planned and they did a wedge resection that had a tumor about the size of a grape. Took out more tissue than required to make sure they got it all. Nothing else was found and they don't feel chemo or radiation is needed. Follow up appointment is Thursday and a final on the 27th.

Hi, I started with the atrial fibrillation with arrhythmia and atrial flutter group. I knew I had some more heart problems and was recently told by the new cardiologist that I had coronary artery disease too. Yesterday afternoon I got an answer to some of my other health issues. I also have non small cell carcinoma of my left lung. Since I don’t really know much about this yet, I kind of am just thinking wow. Because I was told about it in the late afternoon no treatments have been mentioned yet. The oncologist said he was making an appointment with a thoracic surgeon for me. I had to look up what kind of a surgeon that was which sounds kind of grim.

i just had lobectomy too about 2 weeks ago, you're lucky you didn't need anymore treatment, i still need to do some treatments. very sad.

@lisahar , I'm sorry to hear that you are adding lung cancer to your list. If they are looking at surgery, it may have been found at an early stage. That's good news. Lung cancer treatments have greatly improved over the past 10 years. Many people are diagnosed and successfully treated each year. Did you have a CT scan, and/or a PET scan to identify the cancer?

@mypinkheels25, Have they finalized your post-surgery treatment plan? What is your team recommending?

@lisahar , I just saw your other note, confirming that you had a biopsy confirming the cancer, and PET scan. I know being referred to a surgeon is scary, but that likely tells us that they don't think the cancer has spread, and it's been identified at an early stage when it has the greatest chance at a cure.
Once you see the surgeon, will you be reaching out to your cardiologist too? It may be good to have them in the loop.

@lls8000 yes, I have had so many scans and a PET scan of the whole body that I think I might glow in the dark it is non-small so one cancer, which is the better of the lung cancer to have and the PET scan showed that it did not metastasized into my lymph nodes. I’m not quite sure where to get treatment yet. I’m at a good hospital right now, but there are better hospitals in Florida just further away, but thank you all bye.
