Day 66 of a migraine. What has worked for you?

Posted by danimartinez @danimartinez, 6 days ago

Day 66 of my first migraine. I’ve been to multiple neurologists and headache clinics and had several ER visits. I’ve tried dozens of otc and prescription meds- nothing has touched it. My pan is a constant 7-8/10 24/7.

Currently on propranolol, gabapentin, memantine, ajovy, migranol otc supplement, magnesium, and daily electrolytes. No rescue meds have touched it.

MRI, CT, lumbar puncture, and many blood tests are all clean.

I’m beaten and debilitated. I can no longer work or function. Please help me! What has worked for you all?

I wish I could wave a magic wand but I can’t. My first migraine/cluster headache was 40 some years ago and lasted six months. I was finally hospitalized and given fiurinal (Spelling?). It broke the headache. I didn’t get another for years. They occasionally happen now but the severity is much less and the duration is short. Weather triggers mine.

I was on multiple prescriptions. Emgality once a month injection, and Zavespret taken at onset of migraines. Lots of magnesium, healthy diet, no preservatives etc. Best approaches for me have been join SILVER SNEAKERS at YMCA, do Senior Citizen exercises to help with balance. Like Tai Chi, Yoga and low weight/aerobic, medical Marijuana to help with inflammation, nausea and muscle spasms, meditation. Taking responsibility for my wellbeing. Daily attention to positive thoughts and attitude. You can do this!!!

I am so sorry you are going through this. I was having severe, daily migraines for 8 years. Nothing helped much until I read a story about how nerve ending get worn down and the author was told to take 2 x 500 mls of magnesium daily. I tryed it immediately and within a week the pain was about half as intense and in 3 weeks I had pain free days.
I also removed myself from all of the meds I was on.
Good luck.

Botox, Percocet, ice patch on my forehead and sleep. I also do Veypti, Topomax, Amptriptyline, as preventatives and a new pain drug called Journavx. That seemed to help. Good luck.

After I had thunderclap headache March 14, I had daily headache until about April 12. CT scan and MRI neg. Had my headaches not stopped my primary offered botox scalp injections and a 5 day regimen of steroid to stop the cycle. I also have a "headache recipe" of essential oils that I mix in a small roller vial that really works, I roll it along my scalp line. I will share it if interested. Also massage therapy helps. I try not to "chase" the headaches with ibuprofen, etc because you can get rebound headaches. I saw neurologist several yrs ago, I learned to "grade" my headaches- I only take it if pain is greater than around a 5 on 1-10 scale.
