Alternatives to CPAP for sleep apnea

Posted by babsellen @babsellen, Feb 26, 2023

Has anyone experienced a less intrusive alternative to a CPAP machine that they would recommend.?My CPAP works for my fairly severe sleep apnea but is uncomfortable enough that I am depressed thinking I will be hooked up to this thing for the rest of my life. I have tried a couple of different mask systems. I can’t use the minimally intrusive nose-only mask because I am a mouth breather.

there are different size masks , I have to use the full size one as I found the smaller ones the holes for the air was too small, u might not.

@tisme & others
I gave up using a mask for many reasons. One was that the place in my area that supplied masks refused to let their patients try on any masks. They made the decision which mask would be best for you! Their decision did not work & I gave up.
Now I am going to try using a special pillow & a humidifier.

Three weeks was my limit with CPAP. The mask pressure, the noise, the whole setup, I just couldn't stick with it. My partner was more patient about it than I was, honestly. I ended up trying a nasal stent called Back2Sleep after reading about it online. It's not an instant fix the first few nights feel genuinely weird, and I had to order a different size before it actually worked for me. But five months on, my partner says the difference is real. I still see my doctor for check-ins. Not saying it works for everyone, my apnea is moderate, but worth knowing it exists.

Hi,
Has anyone experience weight gain after the first month of a cpap? I gained 10 lbs which I did not need and am unable to lose it? bmi obese start.

Also, has anyone experience mood swings with continous use? Have had this for a year now .

Thx

Also, has anyone experience bad mood swings on the cpap machine?

@ashen2

I have tried to order this but it says it can not be shipped to Canada.

Was hoping to try it as an alternative.

Happy it is working for you.
