Had consistent body torso cramping. Anytime I twisted to do anything my muscles would cramp up. Doctor took me off and I have just now started on 35mg of Risedronate. After one dose no noticeable difference. Hoping it works. Good luck!!
Fosomax gave me severe heartburn, nausea and vomiting even though I was careful about how I took it. Needless to say I did not stay on it. Still looking for a suitable drug.
I was just barely Osteoporotic and my doctor put me on Fosomax. I had no symptoms anything was wrong for 6 months and then developed horrible palpitations! They were so bad I often felt faint. My doctor never suspected the Fosomax but ordered heart tests. All normal . I knew it had to be the Fosomax and stopped taking it and immediately my palpitations lessened. I asked my doctor if the Fosomax caused my palpitations and he said “oh yes, all the bone drugs raise your serum CA levels! Well too much Calcium can affect electrolytes especially magnesium as those two need to stay balanced. It took awhile of taking extra magnesium and no supplemental CA but I recovered a normal heartbeat. I will never take another bone med. I started weightlifting and added Fortibone and gained bone density to osteopenia.
I am 76 and have severe osteoporosis. I can't take Tymlos or Forteo. Doctor prescribed alendronate (Fosamax), which I refused after reading about the side effects and studies showing it offers minimal prevention against fractures.

@pgn spoke to soon! Cramping returned. Began on 4th day. Torso and quad cramping. Lessened by next day, but still tender. Considering giving it another week to see if the cramping can be tolerated for a day or two. Thoughts anyone experiencing same?
@crebecca zero side effects
