what is your experience with fosamax?

Headache 1st day. Feel weird for 3 to 4 days . I take 1 dose a week.. Face flushes dryness, and face breaks out
I drink tons of water to help. Now cramps in my leg, sometimes but I don't know if it's calcium low or potassium?

Gerd, ulcer development after two doses. After that, no longer using that drug.

No side effects noticed. Took every dose for 5+ years. Had decent improvement in my spine after two years which remained stable. However, I fractured just after the fifth year mark (T8).

Had two atypical femur fractures. Still recovering from surgeries 2 1/2 months later.

How long were you on fosamax

As this is only my 3rd week on fosamax, I have had heartburn but just on the day I take it. I follow the directions, drink plenty of water and stay in the upright position for more than 1 hour before eating or drinking anything. I wonder if I should be concerned, but as I said it has only happened on the day of my dosage .

Low magnesium most likely. My doctor said in some people fosomax raises calcium in your blood levels thus depleting your magnesium. Mine got so depleted on fosomax I developed a bad arrhythmia and stopped taking it. Took months to replenish my magnesium levels. I had leg cramps first then got palpitations which got really scary. I will never take another bisphosphonate!

I take magnesium every night and my doctor said he will check my levels in a month. But I read it causes low calcium ugh..
