What can cause hot flashes, night sweats and chills in women over 70?

Hi
You may want to try acupuncture.
It helps alleviate hot flashes and no night sweats.

I'm 70 and I have had hormonal fluctuations since menopause. I personally think there is a connection to sugar and fats in my diet and I get the night sweats when I eat red meat. There's a whole lotta stuff going on that I can't explain and neither can the doctors. Not on HRT. Just trying to do the basics - eat a balanced diet, sleep 7+ hours, get some daily exercise.

There is not much info here. Don't know if you have consulted a gyno or menopause specialist. I am assuming that you are not on hrt/bhrt.

I'm going to be 80 next month and every so often I still get a hot flash. I don't get any night sweats. I just put up with the hot flash and drink some ice water and take off my sweater. It usually goes away fairly quickly. I think it's just something with our bodies aging. Be thankful it's not anything worse.

I’ll be 70 … I’ve been on the menopause train starting with perri at 38. I’ve learned the triggers for hot flashes are: alcohol….wine, cocktails, beer - then let the personal summer begin. Arizona is hot in the summer. One step outside- you’ll get drenched. Put some ice on your inner wrists. Will keep you chilled. Anxiety causes your own personal island in the sun - cue sweat…. And suddenly… always carry ice water with you. Learn where the hot points are- wrists, temples, feet. Don’t drink alcohol. It’s not worth getting night sweats … personal fans are a God send.
Just my $1.50 ….
