Oral Lichen Planus
Hello
I have had OLP for many years. It always presented on the side of my tongue or inside my cheeks. In 2016 I got Clear Choice dental implants. I still get it on in my cheeks sometimes but now I get flare ups around my implants. Has anyone else had this and, if so, do you know if it is due to the material of the implant?

@njh516 Hi, I just found this group. I have had OLP for over 6 years. My dermatologist just started me on Sotyktu. I have been on several treatments that work at first but then quit. I haven't been able to figure out what causes the flare ups and I am miserable all the time. I am interested to try the Red light therapy. Where did you get your device and what is the name?

1 Reaction@findtheanswersdn -- Could you be more specific? What exactly is the name of the device for OLP? There must be a hundred class 2 devices.
@spondee
Please tell me the name of the device for oral lichen. Thanks
@findtheanswersdn
Thanks so much for the info.
@gypsyblue, sorry for the delay. I use cold pressed, organic coconut oil. About 1-2 tsp. Let it melt in your mouth. Swish it and pull through your teeth for 15-20 minutes. DO NOT swallow. Spit it out and brush. It’s aka oil pulling. You will find the right amount that works for your mouth. There is no exact measurement. You just don’t want to swallow all the bacteria. It’s pulling out, which is why you will spit it out. 15 minutes can feel like a long time at first, but if you watch TV or read the time goes by quickly. That being said, I will also just apply the coconut oil on my gums for temporary relief without the 20 minute oil pulling. If you have not tried one of the most basic mixes, you can ask your doctor for some magic mouthwash. It’s basically liquid Benadryl, Malox or Mylanta , liquid lidocaine. It gives temporary relief of the pain, which is better than nothing. Make sure you spread that out as well. You can also make your own with liquid Benadryl and the Malox in a pinch. I too would like the specific information on the red light therapy. I believe the right product would definitely help.
Best wishes!
@help4lichen I haven't the foggiest. I too am waiting for an answer about the device.
I looked back a bit as I didn't know if I had said it. I had never been "out of flare-up" for the last several years.I had to have my top teeth pulled (a nightmare of a different kind as I don't really have enough bone to support a denture! ! Related to OLP or I'm being worked up for sjogrens. I've only had a couple of ulcers since then. Course I guess my diet has changed a lot not being able to chew but I think the teeth extraction, esp the gold onlay that gad been there for 50 years. ( I've wondered for a long time if it was leaking some metal. ) I'm very allergic to nickel esp if its inside my body. Ie. Watches ok, earrings not.
I have been dealing with loss of taste and smell going on 4 years now. I noticed that after the Covid virus, my teeth felt like they were loosening and I had several raised bumps on the back of my tongue. My teeth feel fine now and back to normal, but now I have these white, lacey swirls on the inside of my cheeks and around those raised bumps on my tongue. Is this Oral Lichen Planus? I’ve seen several doctors and none of them said I had this, which I’m actually not surprised of. Our medical people are not doing their jobs!
