Problems with Sleeping on Orgovyx

Posted by rnpalarino1 @rnpalarino1, Mar 18 7:23am

I am almost 80 years old. Gleason score of 9. Prostate removed over four years ago. Biochemical recurrence after two years. Put on Orgovyx. I have been on and off the medication for over two years. I can’t have radiation because of complications from removal of my colon-I have what is called a J-Pouch. Orgovyx appears to be holding the cancer back and I don’t have many side effects. However sleeping is a problem. I have been using Ambien on and off to get a good night’s rest. Thoughts from the group please about how to get a good night sleep without using Ambien. Or should I just keep taking it periodically?

Thanks so much for detailed explanation < 3. I never used marijuana in any shape or form so this is all news to me and perhaps I should spend some time educating myself before embarking on this path.

I was just talking the other day with my husband about all of this and decided to find local CA regulated dispensary since I can ask them for help in finding correct product and finding correct beginner dose. It will also cut shipping cost and with summer coming it will probably help with freshness of a product too.

Once again, thanks for finding time to inform us all about edibles and for detailed explanation of different fractions of hemp. 👍

@surftohealth88 That sound like a perfect approach. CA has a highly regulated market. If you go into a dispensary (most of the clients you'll see have gray hair and clean cut) the "budtenders" at the service counters are very knowledgeable and like to help people find the right product. There are many formulated products that have THC, CBD, and sometimes melatonin in various proportions. A starting dose of THC is 5mg. Below that there may be no effect. An experienced dose is 10 mg. A Deadhead dose is 20mg, but that's a different story. Usually Indica strains are very calming and sleep inducing. Wana brand has several sleep formulations I have used, and there are many other brands too. If you're not comfortable going in person, there is a ton of information on-line. Good luck in your journey!

I have also found great relief in meditation. I'm a beginner in that, but have found lots of Sound Bath and Tibetan Meditation albums/videos on-line. I practiced it daily, lying on my back getting radiation for 6 weeks; made the session go by effortlessly and in a calming way.

Hi all, just wanted to give an update - I am now using THC+CBN sleep gummies and have wonderful response to them. I sleep like a baby (or better said like a teen lol, since babies actually wake up very 2 to 3 hours ). I can not believe this !!!!

Such an easy fix with zero grogginess, ZERO side effects, just restful, wonderful sleep - oh deep and refreshing sleep, how much I missed thou !!! 😌

@surftohealth88 Thanks for the update. A question: Has it been able to overcome sleep interruptions due to hot flashes?

Excellent question guybe!....So, surftohealth88, has it been able to overcome sleep interruptions due to hot flashes? I think without the flashes Id sleep so much better and if the THC+CBN gummies do the trick I am in!

Awe, guys , I am so sorry, I am here as a proxy for my husband so I do not know how it effects hot flashes. I can not sleep due to high stress related to my husband's cancer diagnosis and after trying all kind of things which either did not help or caused horrible side effects I decided to try this and it works wonders.
I just Googled and this is what AI said :
"Cannabinoids, particularly THC and CBD, are increasingly used to manage hot flashes and menopausal symptoms by potentially acting on the body's temperature regulation and endocannabinoid system. Users often report reduced hot flash severity, improved sleep, and lower anxiety. However, high-quality clinical trials are limited, and effectiveness varies ".

@surftohealth88 Thanks for this pointer. I am always wary of "alternative medicine" (Ivermectin - sheesh!), but this isn't that. THC/CBD can do no harm if added on top of my treatment (and I can no longer lose my job over it!), so I'll keep that option in my back pocket if the hot flashes ever seriously disrupt my needed rest. Thanks again. And good luck to you and your husband. Regarding your stress, may I return the favor and STRONGLY recommend "Androgen Deprivation Therapy - An Essential Guide for Prostate Cancer Patients and their Loved Ones", by Wassersug et. al. (3rd edition, 2023)

I never found THC to help in any way with my hot flashes. There are a lot of other solutions that did work.

@jeffmarc Thanks. I've heard and read about estradiol patches. If I ever need to I may go there, though I'm a bit averse to any additional prescriptions, so "need" would be the keyword there. Anything else?
